Yo -

Just to let everyone know, I lubed up all the shift linakge this afternoon with white litimum (sp?) grease, and OMG ... it's so much nicer now.

Plus no more squeaking, my shifts are so much smoother now. I recommend that everyone with a manual tranny do this. Toyota does not put enough, if any, lubrcation on the linkages.

Simple fix for an annoy problem. thumbsup thumbsup

Bought the grease from discount auto and check this thread for location or do a search for a shift linkage...

only problem is the lithium grease breaks down, and in about 2 months, the squeak comes back, and the lithium grease is hard and cakey. thumbsdown

When you say shift linkage, what does that refer to?

so the shift linkage, that's exposed? you don't have to open anything? it's right under the hood? Is that like the tuning fork or that's a different area?

is that like putting grease on a drive shaft in a RWD? I mean, kinda the same concept?
