The lights are sound sensitive so, they flashe along with the music beat. I just spent $20 and did a quick job to see how it'll come out. I am satisfy with it but I am worry that I might get a ticket.

I thought that it's only illegal if you can see the buld or the houseing while the car is moving. That's what a local cop told me.

They are Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps. I got them right here for $5.50.

Get this for $6.50 instead. It comes with vinyl velcros.
Sunbeam [svc.com]

These are for computer case modders. Since they use 12V, I just connect it to the cig lighter.

These lights are not Neon. They are CCFL, brighter than neon, generates less heat, longer life (30,000 hours) and cheap as hell. I've been researching if it is legal or not. Here is some info. Anyone in New York area who is familiar with the law?

Is Neon Legal?
Although only about 2 states actually outlaw neon by name, as long as the tubes are mounted high enough under the vehicle so the actual tubes cannot be seen, they should not be illegal. Interior neon is fully legal. However, for your own peace of mind, we suggest that you please check with your state and local laws for further information.

Answers to the questions I got:

The link I provided for CCFL comes with the transformer/inverter. You'll need it to work. For my setup, I use one transformer for each blue lamp since the cable is too short. Each transformer can be daisy chain (connect one after another). Thats how I connected them after the sound activited device. Installation is extremely easy. I only had to made a custom cable. Cig lighter end and molex (CDROM/HD) connector in the opposite end.

It seems like it is illegal to have it on while driving. I have switches to turn on/off individual light. I can show off while idling though. I still think the electro luminunt wire is legal. Anyone knows?

if ur car is parked, you wont get ticket..unless the cop is bitch.
if ur car is moving with those light on, boom, you have a big chance to win urself a ticket than looks.

interior lights like that it is considered to have influence on driver's concentration, and visibility to the road; therefore, it is dangerous.

For real? i didnt know that, ive driven by a cop in a parking low with my interior lights on (footwell neons and domelight) and with my underbody neons on also, all he did was just stare at me for a second then go on bye, and I was driving, but just in a parking lot.

NOTE: By the way this has happened more than once.

I'm not to sure about other states but I know in NJ if you have interior neons that shine from floor up to mid door cops won't say to much. However across the dash like that they will say something " its to bright and blurrs your vision" <--- something like that. Underbody neons are without a doubt 100% illegal, unless car is parked and being shown off. I have neons in my interior, I always have them on. If you get pulled over hit the switch b4 the cop gets to your door and he can't say anything.

The lights are mounted under the plastic shell. I barely have enough angle (Plenty of room) to hide the light from directly shining into my eyes. Here is a shot I took by crouching down. You can do a better job hiding cables etc.. My intend was to see how it looks. These are lights are not going into my PC anymore. happywink I will try mounting them even deeper inside the plastic shell to prevent the light from shooting up.

[Linked Image from home.nyc.rr.com]

The blue light you see in the cig ash holder is the sound activited module. From there, three lights (left, right and electro luminant wire) are connected. The inverter is hiding near (above) gas padel. It seems the wire is on the way but the gas padel is further deep down. I can do a better job definately.

Warning: You can extend the cable from power source (12V) to inverter. From inverter (620V) to the lamp requires CCFL extension cable. If you try to extend the lamp cable, let me know if it works.

Answer for CRBN BLU:

Cut the molex (computer) connector. Molex has four wires, yellow, black, black, and red. Yellow is +12V and black next to is Ground.

the interior lights are not illegal, weather your moving or not, if that was true, then the tv's would be illegal as well, in nj, the underbody neons are illegal, if you are moving, but parked your fine, in pa, your allowed to have any light you want, just as long as you cant see the actual bulb, if they can see the bulb then you got yourself a ticket

any interior light that distracts the driver's attention is considered illegal.

any light whether interior or exterior, that is blue or red is illegal.

you arent "supposed" to have the lights on while driving, but if you do drive with them on just hope you dont get caught. thumbsup
