K, I wanna get a CAI and I couldn't decided whether to go with AEM or Injen? But since I just saw a pic of a black Injen CAI, I've made up my mind. But now here's the problem. I was driving to work last night in LA and it was pouring! I was thinking to myself, I wonder how the CAI would do with all this water? Was I in danger of hydrolock under normal driving conditions in a down pour? Not to mention that I drove through some pretty deep puddles and that got me thinking too. So, I've figured that if I do decide to get a CAI, I am definately going to get a bypass valve and splashgaurd/heat shield (or whatever they call it). But what I am wondering is, if I go with INJEN, would I be able to add the AEM bypass valve? Hope U all can help. thumbsup

i dono if it will fit or not...

but the bypass is not a saver...its work is limited.

just dont submerge ur filter into flooded areas you will be fine.

under normal driving condition in a pouring rain, there is nothing to worry about...

Yeah, I don't know how many times this has been talked about. Only way your CAI will take water is if it is submerged in water. Submerged means that the whole thing must be under water. A bypass valve will also hinder gains you would receive from the CAI.

Oh i gotcha, the water penetrates the filter. and it only happens when the intake is fully submerged in water?

AEM bypass valve won't fit on Injen. From what I've heard, it cuts back on the hp increase you get from having a CAI anyways.

I got the splashguard for my Injen CAI...just a metal shield that wraps around the filter itself. Does the trick, for dirt as well as water, though I still try to avoid driving in insane downpours.

go with injen and the hield shield/water shield whatever, you'll lose hp with the aem bypass valve, and of course like everyone says, just dont go messing around in deep puddles of water and youll be fine.

No dude, not under normal conditions. By pass valves result in a loss of power!!! thumbsup
