Some of you may know that I have a Veilside bumper being painted at a body shop. It's finished, and I've been trying to get in so the guy can put it on, but he keeps putting me off. It was supposed to be last Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, then Monday, and now it's Wednesday! I asked if I could just come in tomorrow, and he said I'd have to come early because it would take him all day to take my other bumper off and put the new one on. Is this true? I didn't think it took that long?

Either he's really busy or he doesn't want to touch your car. It shouldn't take all day to take off the old bumper & put on the Veilside, maybe a couple of hours at the most. If he doesnt do it tomorrow, I would go to another place.

You cant fit a bumper after its been painted, you're suppose to fit it before you paint it to see if you have to make adjustments.

if its genuine Veilside, swing by SoCal and Ill get it done for you in less than 30 minutes... thumbsup

Every weekend when I'd show my car with the R2 bumper (yes, EVERY WEEKEND), I'd get up at 4am and swop the stock for the R2 on the Saturday, and then again on Monday I'd swap the R2 back for the stock...

Got my times down perfect!!!
Stock/Revmotion to R2 is 20 minutes
R2 to Stock/Revmotion is 45 minutes grin had to re-attach the under plastics too

I did my rear bumper and it probably took about 5 hours if you take out the time I was screwing around and also the time I spent putting the new tails in..

then again, it was the first time I had done it so it should go faster for a professional, I think.

only takes a few minute to remove and replace a bumper back on if there it was already test fitted.

D'OH! you're doing the front bumper.. yeah I've taken mine off to change the fog lights, and it doesn't take more than an hour or two (and that's for a complete novice)

yeah i completely back the doing it yourself plan except for one thing. If he already painted it without having fitted it and the fitting were to be bad for some reason, it will need paint after any alterations. I would hate for you to pay for the paint only to take it home and find out it does not fit. I had always heard that BRS was a good fit. However that was not the case when I put it on. It needed drilling plus lots of glass removal around the edges. Even now there is still tension in it when its on the car, unlike the stock. This was far different from my bomex kit for the mk3 supra that went on perfectly. I guess its kind of a gamble. If your kit is of the quality everyone claims then go for it but be aware of chance.
