hey guys. im looking for the best way to make my trd exhaust louder. my friends keep telling me to gut the catalic converter but its illegal and im not sure how it will sound. other people are telling me to gut the resonator. which would be the best choice? which would make it louder and the best sound? my friend gutted his resonator on his 240sx and it sounds sooo good. i think his exhaust sounds perfect! only thing is, it smokes sometimes. will mine smoke? and is it easy to gut out the resonator? my friend's family owns a shop and we can use their lift on sundays. or should i let them do it? i dunno if they will charge me or not. hopefully he can get me the hook ups. well let me know what you guys think. thanx a ton!

if i were you, i'd get a test pipe made to replace you'r cat. then i would get the resonator removed. your car will not only get louder, but will have a little more pep to it.

so do both? what exactly is a "test" pipe? i was just gonna take out the cat converter and put matching pipe there (or gut it out). then do the same for the resonator. and is gutting/removing the resonator illegal? or is that only for the catalic converter? AND.. what exactly is the purpose of the two?

a test pipe is the pipe you would replace your cat with. removing the resonator is not illegal. taking off the cat is illegal. the cat is for emissions and resonator is to quiet down your exhaust.

will it smoke if i remove the resonator or cat? like i said, my friends 240sx does sometimes. his resonator is gone.
