The Rod Millen was a one-off prototype, Lexus released a statement a few months ago that they are not considering doing a production version(but who knows). They most likely don't want to because the is330 is coming out soon (next year or so) and it will be completely redesigned and powerful in its own right. It won't be a 300HP monster, but pretty close. smile

Eh, I'm sort of bored by the thought of yet another V8 sedan. Lexus would never release an IS430 with 400+ HP, so what's the big deal about V8? I want to see them push their I6 engine to it's limits more than anything. 215 ponies from that thing is a FAR cry from what it could easily push.

Don't forget the image Lexus is trying to project. I know tuners would love to see that 2JZ-GE done up but that's just not a reality. I believe Lexus will want to market that car to a slightly older demography.

I hate that car, just my opinion. I rather spend 30K on something better.

But that car being shown 'It's an IS on steroids'

should be promising.

thats IF they even made it. rod millen probably spent at LEAST 80k for that one-off.

IF the actually did produce it, it would probably market about $45k.

correct, it won't be produced. it's really not even being slightly considerred according to toyota/lexus.

ditto. lexus is a luxury brand and lexus is VERY much into keeping that image. lexus doesnt need it image 'tarnished' by making a premier tuner car.

aftermarket exists for virtually any car, and the is300 is a good lexus example (mostly because it is a 'cheap' lexus), but lexus is more concerned with making cars that don't require modding to make driving it a good experience.

Save your doh and do it yourself. Just my 2 cents. The motor has SOOO much potentially. Back when the IS first came out, there was a magazine with 3 of them on the cover and what their HP was. Something like 303, 450, and 615, but it was a while ago. Shit, I'd take any of 'em.

you can't do the is430 yourself--unless you want to do a complete engine & tranny swap.

the rmm is430 is NOT the stock engine or drivetrain, its a v-8 engine thumbsup

but you are correct that the stock is300 engine has the potential to put up good #'s (but so does every car really)

I understand that Lexus wants to stay focued on the luxury market segment and not us "punk kids" rofl

Still, BMW makes the M3, and Audi makes the S4. Both of those brands carry as much weight in the luxury market as Lexus, if not more. If they priced the car in that range (not a cent below $45k), they could easily maintain their image. I don't even care if the new IS would be affordable for us, I just want it to exist. That way when I hit the lottery I won't need to buy German. spineyes
