I was thinking about buying some vinyls off of Blue Bat for my headlights, but I was wondering how long they would hold up for. I'm definitely going to get one for my mounted brake light but only because it's in the rear and doesn't take damage from debris like rocks and shit.
So in short, how resistant are these things to dirt, damage, and washing? Especially the headlight covers. Thanks.

I was just worried that putting them on my headlights was just asking for trouble from ding marks caused by rocks and such. What's the texture to these things? Are they as smooth as they look, or are they a little grainy to the touch?

Oh, and I wanted THESE [ bluebatmobile.com] but in silver to match my car. What do you all think? Also, what does it mean to give it a "carbon fiber and smoke finish?" It's only $3 more so sounds good, just need to know what the hell it would look like.

What's with the carbon fiber? the first one is a full vinyl cover...so light only goes through the holes and Carbon Fiber is a Carbon Fiber finish

Okay. I thought the $3 was for both smoked and Carbon Fiber, but it appears that it's three bucks for each.

Ah, so those are what the Carbon Fiber ones look like. Don't know if those would look best on my car since I don't have a Carbon Fiber hood. Now I guess my only debate is between the regular ones and the smoked. Might get the regular because I think it might look better since my car is silver. Just gotta decide if I want black or silver for the vinyls. What do you guys think? Only seen pics of the silver Celicas with the black ones on but I think the silver on silver look would be cool.

What's the probibility that I could fuck up installing the vinyls? Nothing I do turns out right on the first try. I just don't wanna put them half way on and then realize that they are on crooked or something.

Yep vinyl's are easy to put on. If you are worried about them being straight just use water w/ a little dish soap in it. It will let you slide the vinyl around some.
I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

I didn't see my friend install it, he just said he screwed up. I'm guessing he didn't align it right before he stuck it on, so he stuck it on, peeled it off, stuck it on, peeled it off, etc up to the point where the vinyl just looked like crap. No more install privileges for him.

[/quote] OK this is how I did mine. *Keep in mind everyone might have their own way* -I took a spay bottle and put one-two drops of dish soap in it and filled the rest w/ water. -Clean the area of the car where you want to put the vinyl. -Placed the vinyl on the car were I wanted it w/ little pieces of tape at the top only. Then took a few step back to make sure that, that's how I wanted it. -Then lift the bottom of the vinyl up while keeping the top taped to the car. (think of it as door on hinges) -Spay the car w/ the solution in the spray bottle. And then peal the backing off of the vinyl and spary the vinyl very lightly. -Starting at the top where the pieces of tape are slowly role the vinyl down until the whole thing is on.(If you wanted to move it a little now is the time to do it). -Wipe the excess water off and smooth out any air bubbles. -Start at a corner and peal the top piece of paper off of the vinyl. SLOWLY Let it sit for at least an hour. And you're done. I hope that this helps and like I said before the different people have different ways of doing it. This is just what worked for me. As for how easy do they come off... Vinyl decals are different from stickers. If you want to remove them you will need to use a hairdryer to heat them up a little and peal them off. Don't get the hairdryer to close cause you might melt your paint. I've heard of people using heat guns but I wouldn't recomend it.

I've just today moved on from my Carbon Fiber look. Not because I didn't like it, I just felt like changing them. I had them over a year and my only problem was with loose corners catching wind. Easy fix though.

I thought the smoked ones wouldn't let the lights show through as much as they do on that one.
