Yeah like the title, I have a question. I heard about this drive wire in the 03+ and people make it sound like its a bad thing. The question is what is the drive wire, I don't know what it is and would like to know thanks in advance

its drive by wire, not drive wire. it makes the throttle electronicly controlled instead of controlled by a cable. so its actually better, and gives faster throttle responce. but the downside is that most turbo kits arnt copatable with the drive by wire

You obviously haven't been to www.monkeywrenchracing.com [ monkeywrenchracing.com] lol if it's a power mod they are bound to have it like I said you have much to learn before you start modding your car. the SF turbo for the GTS IS compatible with the 2003 drive by wire. SF = Stafford Fabrications XS engineerings turbo sux anyways and is full of problems so I wouldnt even get that. Blitz is ok BUT it's a lot of money and not real good on top end. Down low it pulls like no tomorrow. However with good driving and decent N/A mods you can out run it for less $$. you could also go the n20 route. but then you have to always refill the bottle. I say stay stock until you learn to drive. cause you THINK that its not hard to move through gears once you get the launch down but thats just not true. Many people still can't land lift when they shift. And until you get that down you'll always be that much slower no matter what mods you get.

drive by wire is actually slower, because toyota made the system more gas friendly. the EPA #'s for the 03 are slightly higher, thanks to the drive by wire system

if you keep your throtle cable properly tightened you won't see any real lag either. I've seen people with 2"s of slack before. lol thats not even letting you get WOT. lol mine has 0 play in it but I tighten it often.

Drive by wire will always be slower because there is not a direct connection between the gas pedal and the throttle. Yeah the drive by wire systems used on most cars are pretty dang advanced and the lag is probably not noticeable but still, nothing beats the good old fashioned cable throttle IMO.
My lugnuts require more torque than my Honda produces.
