I'm only 15 and i'll turn 16 this summer. I've decided that i am going to get a celica for my first car. I'm in a bit of a predicament. I'm debating on whether i should wait until next year to buy a car or whether i should buy one now and get some parts for it and fix it up. bc im afraid if i wait till next year their all going to have a lot more miles on them. but now they're still kind of expesive. I'm going to get a GTS 6 speed and now they're going for like 13K. how much less do yo think they'll be spring of 2005.I really dont feel like waiting. haha. ah well. Also i still havent decided on waht color. either black or spectra blue. also what kind of headlights are those ones that are really bright and look kind of blue? Also i really dont like the stock spoiler so i was wondering waht spoiler i should get.

if money is not an issue
buy the celica, have it custom painted (maybe gunmetal)
learn and work on the car. anything from s2000 antenna to interior mods and intake, exhaust, headers, etc... plan it out and have it a color scheme like black exterior with slotted rotors with red brake calipers and red LED light conversion inside the dash. or else wait to get ur hands on a good deal. or else maybe buy the 8th generation if you have enough money. if not i think gts 2004 should drop its price around june since the new models come out. maybe as cheap as 20,000 if not less

wait for it--prices will go down.

also, toyota is redesigning the celica for the '05 model year. you can do what you want, but if i were you i'd wait and buy the redesign...that way you save yourself from having an outdated car haha

I'm going to buy a 2000 or a 2001 it doesnt matter on the year as long as it's a 7th gen. I really like the black. but people are saying it leaves water spots. angry but if i were to get a black id have the color scheme black & red. You can't really see the curves and such on a black one. but the spectra blue is lookin good too. you can see all the curves or w/e but it's a nice color. i jsut dont want silver. i refuse to get silver and yet it seems silver celicas are the cheapest. There are so many silver celicas around here its disgusting. their all stock. NY sucks. My dad'll probaly help me pay for it on acount my sis totaled her car this summer and he ended up paying for her new jetta puke when she oculd of gotten a celica for less. cry. ah well i'll figure it out. but does anyone know waht im taklinbg about w/ the whole headlight thing. I've seen a couple pictures mostly black celicas but they have like blueish headlights. and what spoiler is that in the picture that i posted in my first post. West wing or w/e? i have no idea

I'm going to get a GTS 6 speed and now they're going for like 13K. how much less do yo think they'll be spring of 2005.

The mileage thing doesn't matter, a year from now you'll be able to get a 2003 with 10k miles for the same price you can buy a 2002 with 10k miles for now. The perk there is that (if you are looking 2 model years old), you will be getting the better 2003 model that doesn't have the annoying rev limiter. There might be a slight increase in resale value on celicas in a year once this body style is finished production, but it could go down just as easily if the 8th gen body is being advertised and is right on the horizon.

I say that you should learn to drive stick in some family car, then buy the Celi when you turn 16. Learning in the Celi is a little trickier (from what I've heard) than if you learn in a normal 5-speed. That could pose a problem if you use that car to learn how to drive, since you'd be strongly advised to get the manual when you buy the GTS.

Especially if it is a 2000, they have really tight shiftgates.

why wont you get another black car? i'm still debating whether to get a celica or a RSX type s. the rsx is a little faster. 200 HP instead of 180. but i LOVE the rsx's tailights. evne stock. throw a spoiler on it bam. get that one in black too. amazing. haha. no one in my family has stick. they all have auto angry. but my cousin has one or else my uncle has a little escort that he sold to my other cousin for like 300 for the winter cause she doesnt wanna mess up her RSX. maybe i can get that from her. Today at school i saw a black RSX n it made me think about it.

get a GTS...better than RSX and the RSX is not that much faster...toyota is better quality also.

and next year, it's going to be the 8th gen celica, and all 7th gen's will probably have a lot of miles...
so, get one around now when you find a good deal.

Not true. At best they are the same. The GTS is probably faster. Type S is heavier, so teh extra HP is used up on the weight.

no... with equal drivers the RSX-S is a bit faster. But celica's look better.

im 16, and went through same thing you were going through, i got the 03 GTS in black with the TRD package (like in ur pic, just what i wanted). Just look for a good deal i bought mine for $22,000 with the action package and 5k miles which is a good deal (money wasnt too big of an issue). But i passed up real good 13k-16k dollar deals so just check out autotrader and dealerships and something will come up. Dont wait, if you find something take it.

Bright headlighta are HID kit. I got mine put on and it's really bright. I got 8000K so it makes really nice blueish light. I love them and got matching fog and put in PIAA super plasma. From the front view at night car displays really nice headlight.

Ever notice that the tiberon has a lot of the same lines as the gen 6 celica. Its like a mix of theat and the old 911. The engine is weak and the trannies from suffer in wrc.

what would you guys consider a good deal? i'd go for a 2000 or a 2001 right. cause the 2002 has the rev limit. and i dont really want a 2003 or a 2004 for my first car.like i ofund some GTS's for like 10k. thats good no?
