Haha...

The BEST part though is that with the GTS engine, his tac doesn't even go up to where the rev limiter is rofl

it would be slower than a normal GTS by alot, becase of his inability to land anywhere close to lift with this 5speed gear box

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense...

You're still going to be slower than an actual GTS, plus you won't have any of the interrior goodies. AND it'll cost more than trading your car for the same year/mileage GTS.

If you're going to engine-swap, go for something with a little more kick. Otherwise just trade for a friggin GTS.

duzen't the 5-speed tranny which has a higher gear ratio gives it quicker acceleration?

the 5spd will make it harder to land lift, because the gears are longer...

another problem I forsee is how does he know where the revs really are, because the tach on a GT and a GTS are different...

GT 6500 is vertical GTS 7K is vertical...

also, the spacing between #'s is different

I'm sure he got it calibrated, otherwise it'd be a stupid swap.

How do you get it calibrated? The needles are controled by the ECU, if you swapped it to a different one, the gauge face would read the wrong thing... confused

I'd say it's worth $1800 cause there's really no goodies in a GTS that interests me...my 2 cents

i dont think its dumb at all. he blew his engine, so he could either have a GT engine or a GTS engine. which would you choose?

I've seen this before and shortly before and it always makes me laugh. The GTS engine in the 5 speed. Come on who are we really fooling here? Are own Celica brothers and sisters? What a waste. a GT and a turbo would be much better blown engine or not. Toyota had a reason to include the 6 speed for the GTS. I'm sure it's not cost. Maybe a transmission and engine swap would get me interested, but that would make it a GTS right? Or almost. Just seems a waste of time and money to me.

well you got a point there buddy, i know celica is not a fast car but oh well, atleast I still pick up girl everytime I hit up the club and get some buttay... lol Celica look high class if you fix it up right... so why worry about speed... just kidding... i'm going to trade my slow as car in and get a rsx type s, because I heard that a type s engine block are stronger then old type r model and gsr. That mean the car can hit 11s in the future... can't wait to see it happen...
