aiite its time for my brother to get a car...well my parents said that they would give him 23,000 (lucky bastard wink) for his car and some mods...so we went out and found 2 cars...a stock 1998 Toyota Supra TT, or a Toyota Celica GTS???? they are both manual and the celica only has like 10,000 miles while the supra has like 93,000...the prices are supra: 17,995 and the celica is 12,995...which one???

ask if you can get a better deal on the supra since it has a lot of mileage and spend the extra money tuning, cleaning the engine and etc.

is it only between those 2 cars? for $23,000 you can get something VERY tight. you should be able to get something like a used 350z and still have $$ for mods. its more power than the celica, and a ton less miles than the supra.

i love supras..but almost 100k miles does NOT appeal to me at all.

yeah, and they can usually go for longer than that reliably if you keep them up good. my point was even if it goes 150,000 miles (which it probably will)..thats only 50,000 miles (or about 4 years).

and it doesnt have to be a z...$23,000 can get you a really nice used car without all the miles.

i mean, its his $$, but i don't like that many miles, just my opinion. and then just think about resale...if you keep it 4 years and its got 150,000 miles on it, your not gonna get much for it..even if it is a supra.

yes. but you'll still have to keep the miles off of it. and since it seems like it'll be a daily driver, i doubt the miles will 'stay' low.

why does it matter?

TT Supra owns, who cares abotu resale value, in 2 years the GTS will only be worth 7 or 8K anyhow.

i wouldnt recommend guying a used gts anyway (if i had $23k). just saying i'd like a car with less miles. get a car with just as much power as the supra, less miles, mod it up. just an opinion

Don't get the GTS, since you already have one. The Supra is overpriced...try to find one with a lower mileage.

well sorry for being so down on the supra (it truly is a great car) but why would the seller sell it so low? 11k for a 98 supra...i dunno but i would be skeptical (that doesnt mean it HAS problems, just means thats really really low priced).

also, no one really needs 13k in mods for ANY car. unless you plan on touring it, 9k should be very reasonable to get just abuot everything you would ever want.

yeah, i'm a party pooper..but i still think your bro should look around if he were smart (just an opinion)

same
usually a TT Supra...98..would not be 11..if the original buyer was smart enough, they would know this thing is worth something...there are plenty of new and other used car choices he could get...and yes, it's not like you need all that money into mods...get a car that's going to be worth it...such as something with lower miles..

Get the supra if you get them down to 14.9... thats a deal no matter the miles, it's a investment and I deffinetly recommend Suprastore.com their prices are great, hard to find someone that will beat them. Tozer is the king. Get the supra.

they didnt make supras in 98!!!!
either way i'd go for the supra..they have very high re sell
value..and of course there gonna have high miles! there kinda old...i was just reading on "how many miles do you have" or whatever and most people have 30,000+ miles on there celicas...and celicas new body style were made 2000+
so you cant really say the 90,000 is a lot of miles for a car thats 8 years old!

I thought that 1998 was the last year for the Supra? confused

In any case, $11,000 is unbelievably low for a 98 TT, which kind of makes me extremely suspicious. Is the car a rebuilt title or something? That price is literally less than half of it's blue book value. wtf

btw, 12,000 - 15,000 miles a year is considered average for a car. So a 1998 Supra with 90,000 miles on it is just about exactly what it should be.

either way its a good buy. i say the second you get your hands on it take about 500 bucks out of your budget and do a major tune up. also check the head gaskets and seals make sure nothing is leaking. either way its a good find. hope you have fun with it.

Are you kidding me? The Supra would spank a modded GTS even if it was stock. 4k of mods on a Supra would beat the living shit outta any GTS unless it had a rocket strapped to the back of it.

Ok, 460hp. http://www.suprastore.com/450hppackage.html
