Dumb question, but I'm not very schooled on engines.
My friend and I installed a CAI on my GT not too long ago. Because of a stupid mistake (Oxygen sensor not hooked back up- I'm guessing that's the reason AND it wasn't my fault) the check engine light was triggered. I know it's not a big deal to have it on, but is their a way I can get it off without putting everything back to stock and having the Toyota tech do it?
Take off the negative connection to the battery for 10 seconds all the electronics will reset (except odometer ) and the CEL should go off. hope that helps
Thanks! I had Russ do it, he was there at Arizona Celica meet. He did 2 in Arizona and 2 more here in LA when he dropped by his sisters before heading back to NorCal.
i also have the same problems as jandre, but even though i remove the battery the engine still lit up the next day and i even try removing the ecu and it also lit up after the next day. is there anything i need to check ????
Hmmm... try the step above and next day when you start your car do not drive hard, slowly build up your speed let ECU slowly adjust. If the problem persist you may have a problem with your air sensor that attach to the CAI. I hope your problem is not the later.
