both of my neighbors, one with a wrx and the other an accord w/ a kit, are driving w/o front plates. they've been driving like that for well over a year now they haven't had any trouble.

Here in CA, you can try it for a week and you'll know real quick whether or not your city is gonna give you a hard time about it. It is illegal, but most police department's tend to leave it alone. If you get busted for speeding and are a jerk they might add it on, but that'd be about it.

The only time I've ever known anyone to get a ticket for it was while their car was in the LAX parking garage. Apparently that's a major source of funding for the LAPD, because it's happened to FIVE different people I know there.

Bottomline is that I'd try driving without it, but learn your lesson put it on if you ever get a violation.

I've seen Vettes, Matrix cars, and other numerous cars w/out the front plate (because of the lack of front mounts). Wonder if they ever get tix...

iv ask other drivers around here who didnt have license plate on their front and their reason was that they lost them while driving. some people say that you can drive without it. they also said that the only way you could get a ticket is if you put a custom name insted of your plate. do you guys agree?

it depends of ur city. but they usually dont give unless their assholes. if you get the ticket i think its a 100$ or something. wut you can do with it is call the court and delay ur appointment for a year. during the time you have that ticket being delayed for a year if a cop pulls you overfor that same plate, you show them the ticket. after that you can put ur license plate at the front passenger side of the windshield when you see cops around or maybe tape that DMW paper at the passenger windshield side (but i duno if that works). if you get pulled over, you can try to give them the excuse that you just coming back from the bodyshop or something they repainted ur body kit or they just holed the kit so i can hang my plate but i dont have it with me right now. give it a try.
