when looking to buy a front - dont just buy on how low to the ground it is... also pay attention to how much further it extends the front corners of your car - this is where the real problem starts tongue

did you have any trouble driving with the R2 front on? and how much of a drop did you have?

extremely difficult driving... all multi-level parking structures were out of the question... and you can ferget about drive-thru fast food windows rofl

I was riding stock suspension RAISED with 17" rims on 45 profile tires (I actually bought the wheels 3 days after getting the kit installed, because I couldn't get the car in or out of ANY driveways cry)

stock suspension and 17" wheels...

where are you planning on buying it? if you already have a good price, you may not need this, but $600 is a good deal for the complete kit (and autosportz is also a very reputable autosport shop so you won't have to worry about reliablility questions): autosportz.com: r2 body kit for '00-up celica [autosportz.com]

are those replicas? i think they are, because it says R-2, instead of R2

EDIT: and also i dont think there is any new R2 kits sold, seeing as how there was less than 20 ever made

i was thinking the same thing, and wondered about it. but if you'll look at the body kit homepage at autosportz i couldnt find any other body kits that might be replicas...so i don't know. thought i would post it up there anyway and see if anyone else had some info thumbsup

edit--it could very well (and most probably is) be a replica...now that i'm looking at it i think the wings west kit they offer for the celica is also a replica..they only sell it in fiberglass.

in any case..the only way you could probably get one anyway (unless its your lucky day) is to go replica...so hopefully that site will come in useful.

RaceReady Autodesign (R2) had gone out of business around the end of 2001 - and less than 20 ORIGINAL R2 Celica body kits were ever manufactured.

If you find someone selling a NEW R2 kit today - you can be confident that its a replica

https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=1862404819#Post1862404022

As I'm told by the designer of the R2 kit, and now you are hearing it second-hand, "The mold for the original R2 doesn't exist anymore. It was left in a garage about 2 years ago and got very badly warped by weather"

Fact1: R2 Celica body kit designer is now known as BRS Tuning/Autodesign
Fact2: R2 Celica body kit design was inspired by TRD MR2 body kit design

What happened when you contacted darkduwende
about his GENUINE R2 ?

If you want to buy a replica of this style, call and speak with 4 different shops who carry this style, ASK THE REP about the quality/fitment of the bumper and listen to exactly what they say. Hopefully they will have some experience or have heard feedback about what they sell and can give you more than the general "all kits may need modification for installation" speech... have the rep you are on the phone with, ask someone else in their office if they know more details... then when you call the second shop, as them the same questions and also if they know anything about shop 1... and do this procedure for shop 2, shop 3 and shop 4... this might also get you a better price on a better fitting kit and will learn more about who to buy from next time. Also ask about their fitment garentee, if any.

sorry for the huge 'run-on' above, but its some good information that everyone should use when purchasing a bodykit... in most cases, the seller will tell you the problem they might have heard regarding fitment of the pieces that you want - they would rather tell you upfront than have to deal with returns from an unhappy customer.

^ive been talking to DARK for a while now, and am 99% sure that i am goin to buy it. he says 200$ for the front. it has cracks on the top right, so it would need to be repainted, and fixed up some. do you think this is an OK price, or should it go cheeper because of the dammage?

Do you have any pics of the damage? Hard to say without that.

And does this price include shipping or not?

The cracks in that top pic look pretty severe frown

Maybe you should try to get an estimate from a bodyshop of what it would cost to repair that (based on the pictures) and then decide whether or not you wanna buy it.
