Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior ECU reset? How long for proper running again.

Yeah i reset my ECU on my 2000 GTS and change my air filter. The same day i took my car for a smog check and it did not pass. The car pass everything eles but they said it wasn't running properly and that did not pass. I told them what i did and they told me it takes a while for the engine to reprogram itself. Does any one know how long until my engine runs like itself again. I notice changes in the engine itself after resetting it. It stalls slightly and does not accelerate as fast. Anying helps. I need to pass this smog test.

what was the exact problem...what part of the test failed. you should be running normal right after you plug back in.

when i reset my ecu it usually start feeling "sweet" at about 50 miles then it gets,more and more agressive then flatens off at about 200 to 250 miles.thats just butt feeling,i dont know as it relates to your emmisions though,try after a 100 miles and see what happens.i do know for a fact thet the ecu tailors the settings based on the inputs from the sensors over a given period of time.
