So, about a week after I got my car, I mistakenly turn right on a red...almost into a cop. Yeh, it was my fault. But I mean, $327? Plus security and traffic school fee...*sigh* Sometimes, I just hate the fucking system. My first offense since I started...even my friend was speeding in a school zone once, and got out with $100. Shit...just had to vent.

I'd take it to court just to contest the amount. Cops don't always write the ticket for the correct amount. On purpose or by mistake...

I got a ticket for parking on my lawn a couple of months back. $75. Long story short I KNEW that was BS and went to the police department to ask them wtf was up. Basically found out that he either screwed up or was being an ass, because the ticket should have been for $25.

Moral of the story is to at least give things a shot before you just give up and pay it.

get a lawyer to clear your record, if not..best luck is to re-schedule your court date real early in the morning or real late in the afternoon...as late as possible...chance are the cop will not show up, but I bet my money on getting lawyer. You save money in the long run smile Best of luck!!

hopefully the cop wont be there. but if he is, just say 371 is ridiculous. admit ur guilty but disagree on the $$. its ur first time and you screwed up. by the way did you stop and started rolling on red or just was going non stop on red to the right? if you stopped and rolled and made a mistake, 371 is lot. if you didnt stop at the light and then proceed that might be expensive. good luck

Yea cops are getting harsh now, I haven't got a ticket and don't plan too, but if you get busted by those undercover cops then your screwed. Had an uncle get stopped by one of them, he was trying to avoid another car cause it was turning into a road rage thing and when he spead past the car an undercover stopped him and gave him a ticket a little over $400 thumbsdown

yeah..you come out about the same cost-wise. but when you plead guilty to a lesser charge..less points are added. so even though you pay the same amount, you do better with the insurance premiums.

Cops can't give you a ticket for automobile violations pertaining to your vehicle on your own private property.

They got a free $75 out of you! thumbsdown

doesnt work like that in Mass. Each town has a cop that "repesents the Town" and a back-up...so There is Always a cop that shows up at court

Your not allowed to park on your lawn? I park on mine all the time, i live really close to the high school, and so my friends park at my house 2 cars on the dirt next to my drive way and my car on the front lawn plus 3-4 cars in the drive way...I guess its not a law in my town...How can they prohibit this?

It's a violation of a property code. If they didn't have this law then hoosiers would be parking all of their old abondoned vehicles on their front lawn. It's mainly to prevent eye sores.

Also, I read in one of my classes that a good way cops target drug houses other than raiding them is to target property offenses and condemn them rather than raiding them over and over again. Also, parking a car in someone's lawn, even if it is your own, might indicate that all available spots are taken in the garage or street or whatever, and that's a good indication that illegal activity might be involved within the house. At least that's what I read.

Anyways, the reason you or your friends havn't been reported yet is because no one has complained, or because some cops just don't care. It is a property offense most likely almost everywhere. All it takes is one of your neighbors to call the cops, or for one of them to just see it and ticket it. But we used to do this all the time when I went to high school cause we weren't seniors and only they could park in the school's lot. The reason that we didn't get ticketed is because the only cops that ever went into the subdivisions by our school were the cops that were stationed at our high school, and they patrolled to stop fights, not write tickets. Also, the neighbors didn't care if someone parked on a lawn, as long as it wasn't theirs. They only called the cops if there was a fight or if there was trash being thrown onto their property.

Goddamn, I don't know what it is, but whenever I post I wind up writing novels. spineyes rofl
