Hello Everyone: I am ready to buy headers but don't know which one is good. 4 into 2 into 1? or 4 into 1?

and which brand will gain more horsepower?

personally i like 4-1 because it usually has less resistance to airflow and i like the fact that its one piece.

that said, a 4-2-1 isnt THAT much of a difference and the installation is easier because you don't have to twist it in such awkward ways (smaller pieces = less hassle)

so far, trial makes the best horsepower gains (about 11 whp). but its expensive..in the neighborhood of $700. (normal headers can be found for around $500). the price is so steep because trial is a japanese company and you will need to pay destination charges for the product.

that said, dc motorsports is coming out (or has recently come out) with a header for the gts that promises even better gains than the trial and for a cheaper price. worth looking into, in my opinion. thumbsup

Brashboy Japan makes a 4-2-1 header. 4-2-1's are different than 4-1's because of the difference in runner collectors. Some enthuasists choose to have long tube headers which enables you to tune your different locations of your power band which is beyond me.

4-2-1 = power across the whole powerband

4-1 = high end

the celica header is a 4 into 1 design but in actuallity the entire system including the down pipe is a 4 to 2 to 1 design! that is one of the reason the amss header lost power in the low and middle rpm band cause they didnt put in the divider that made the system a 4 to 2 to 1 header! the divider in the down pipe splits the exhaust gases from #1 and #4 cylinder and keep them together away from #2 and #3 the flow of the gases in each runner helps pull the gases of the other runner its paird with in the collector, cause the gases are travelling faster cause of less turbulance from cylinder interferance(scavenging and reversion)and the gases travel faster in two separate smaller section of pipe than 1 big pipe.(more preasure)
