the only thing i have seen like this, is "on" the upper console. (not exactly hidden--here's a pic). havn't seen one yet that you can close the upper console lid...but i don't see how hard it could be. if you can fit the screen in there, i'm sure any audio shop can mount & wire it so that you could close the lid and hide it.

I'm certain it could be done...

I've seen a few people put the screen into that space, just without the door there anymore. If you could cut through the back of the compartment, I'm sure you could mount the player back far enough where it would close. The real issue would be making sure you buy one of the screens that extend away from the unit when deployed- otherwise it could hit the top of the compartment and won't be able to deploy.

With that said, I don't know why you'd go that way with the install. Most of those screens fold away to look exactly like a normal CD headunit, so the risk of theft wouldn't be very high. Plus, they sound every bit as good (or better) than whatever aftermarket stereo you'd be keeping as the main unit. Just no need from my point of view to go through the hassle of that install job.

yes it has been done..

In japan, the center console comes with an LCD for the navigation system...but we don't have that in the states...

so people will get their console piece molded or whatever to have an LCD fit in it...but it can be done..

Karrion28 has done it...

having it hidden is the tricky part if you mean have the cover of that compartment going over it...you could do it with a small screen i'm guessing, just have some of the compartment cut away. Never been done before like the way you want it..

^^ or you can do both (as the picture i posted above does). it has both a dvd player and a cd player.

you can also do it with in dash dvd screens/players. (have the fold away screen in the first DIN and your cd player of choice in your 2nd DIN.

that way, you can pimp with video and bump with sound all at the same time (obviously you don't show off your subs by playing a dvd track...so why not have the best of both worlds?)

yea, that's what most people do...the flip out screens for their video...then have the cd player there also, since it's a double din.
