Putting 18's on my celica, would the car stay the same height or would it raise a little? Cuz I don't want to lower my beast. Oh also what is the biggest size rim one could put on a 2003 Celica Gt? confused

If you get the correct size tires for your new rims, the car will stay exactly the same height (well, within 1/100th's of an inch).

As for the biggest size, 19" rims are possible. You have to be very careful with that small of sidewall on the tires though, so most people go with 18". It's far too easy to bend 19"s on potholes or other things, in my view.

Well okay, low profile tires on these 18's would make no difference? Oh and who can help me with the 18x?. I know it means the size accross, but again what is better for handling?

The low-profile tires on the 18"s will make some difference... I mean, you can even bend a stock rim if you hit a pothole/dip/whatever just right. The point is that the more rubber you have, the safer it is for the rim.

As far as width, ask some people who have switched theirs... I've just been looking into it for my car recently so I'm not sure.

Check out my profile for some pics. They are 18's on low profiles. I've hit a shitload of ugly potholes driving on Chicago streets for a while now but they are still OK. Sometimes I have to pull over to make sure there are no dents on my wheels after I eat some ugly ones. I feel my rims are good quality cause I've hit some fucked up potholes(excuse my langauge everyone) & they seemed to have survived them. I'm satisfied with my choice. They were special order from Japan. I have to get a new rim though after my accident. Ride is a bit bumpy on 18's. But tell me the Celi doesn't look good on 18's! I think biggest size you can go is 19's with right size tires(I almost went with 19's)

yeah, as mentioned above 19" is the biggest you can put on a celica...i've never seen/heard of a celica w/20" as of yet.

most people who are "go" oriented usually go with 16s or 17s (some, more serious racers will choose 15s) while most people who are "show" oriented will go 18s - 19s. (if you go 18" or 19" be sure to keep your tranny in excellent condition. these rims add a lot more strain to your drivetrain).

if you go 18" or 19" you will need super low profile tires Z(obviously) in order to fit them into your wheel wells. as far as width of wheels is concerned, most people tend to go 7.5 or 8. the exception being those with fender flares and opt to go with wider wheels instead of tires.

some people have also gone 8.5 - 9 in the rear. this is totally cosmetic (this is to make your car look like a rwd setup) seeing the celica is fwd.

what kind of drop to you have (how many inches)? you can really only drop a car with 18s no more than 1", after that...it's better to 'drop' you car with a bodykit.

definately. your speedo is all about rpms. increasing your diameter of tire/wheel will make your speedo read a slower speed than what you actually are. if you decrease your diameter tire/wheel, your speedo will read a faster speed than what you actually are.

for instance, lets say you have a 16" wheel and with a tire you have 20" all around. that means one rotation of your wheel = 20"

lets say you h ave an 18" wheel and with a tire it is 21" all around. one roation now = 21"

your speedo will not be that off at lower speeds, because 1" is not that much. but the faster you go, the more your speedo will be off. (the faster your wheels/tires are rotating, the more that 1" becomes significant)
