Heres a few pics of what i decided to do today! took a lot of time but shes basically done, just have to clean it up maybe add some neons?!?! the kind that beat to the music? what do you guys think? note...if the pics are to big im sorry i dont know how to resize em.. sorry in advance.
Looks good, but be careful with those amps, they won't get any air there and won't be able to cool off very well. They need room to breathe, especially that Rockford amp. They get really hot.
DUDE! That's sweet! Exactly the box that I want to make for mine! Looks like you even have the same subs as me (10" HE2's?)
So how long did it take... How good does it sound?
They are actually HE 12' subs! im going to get the HE2s real soon though. it sounds kickass!!! it probably took me roughly 6-7 hours. the hardest part was fitting the front piece in. the good part about this box is that i didnt hurt any of the plastic pieces. so if i sell it it wont be all beat up!! what do you think about the neons? ya or na? i could wire it up to the light to the right of the subs and it would only go on when the hatch opens, i wanna do it but i need some input.
yes to the fosgate but the kenwood is an intercooled class d mono amp with a subsonic filter that doesnt get hot. so im ok with the kenwood! the fosgate is wired up to my interior speakers.
I think the neon's would be kickass. I'd actually go with white though... I always think neon's that are a different color than the car look a little Black lights would be tight too if you can find those to pulse with the beat.
As for going from HE to HE2, I strongly suggest it. I've used both in the past, and the HE2's are mucho cleaner. Just make SURE that you have enough power running to them... Rockford understates the difference in how much more power-hungry the 2 series are.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you

totally agree with you, about fosgate!! and as for white thats what it would be and it would match the underglow which is white. id probably do 2 601s fosgate amps maybe even 2 801s...depending on how much cash i get for these subs/amp..FOR SALE!! had em for bout 4 weeks..i love the sound of these subs, it sounds better in the box i made than the other one i had. he2s are a lot more deeper although these hit the lows!! all in all i love it either way!
10Celi, it seems as though we think very much alike when it comes to our cars
My advice would be to go with either two 601S amps or one 801S. I just have one 701S for my 10's, and I'm sure that it could almost power a set of 12's. Going for two 801S amps would be a waste... you could throw that money toward upgrading your mids and highs.

Im probably going to do the 601s, just have a good feeling about them. i like my speakers i got, they are the 4 way pioneers, plays great mids and highs, i would probably need to upgrade the current amp i have thats running them. if i were smart id get a 4chan instead of the 2 chan im running. that would make it so i could fade the music!!! if and when i get the HE2s im gonna make a plexi front that is mirrored so itll all look chrome. cant wait dvc!!

Thats what I did. Here is a pic that would help you out.
by doing this, flip the switch to the off position and only your neon lights will turn on when the hatch opens and your trunk light will stay off. If you flip the switch to the on position, your trunk light will trun on when the hatch opens and your neon lights will stay off.
Very nice! I also give respect to the do it youself Way to go. I bet that does sound really nice. I'm workin on a custom trunk/box set-up in mine too I'll post pics when construction starts. Got to appreciate a job well done!
Custom!! i had it done at a place called classic soft touch, they specialize in leather apoulstry! its the softest leather ive sat in so far!! i think its better than mercedes! i love the look thanks for the compliment!
