nolo contendere definition in a criminal lawsuit, nolo contendere is where a defendant neither admits not denies a crime but accepts punishment as though he or she were guilty.

deffered judification is what i did a few years back...you basically plea nolo...then its kinda like probation don't do anything wrong for 90 days...and your record is expunged; the fines still apply and they hit me up with aditional court costs...not sure about the legal definition but this is how it worked for me...hope this help a little more

EDIT: after you plea nolo you have to ask for defered judification...the judge and prosecutor will either agree or not agre then set terms...since you are in a different area the local law may call deffered judification something else you have to check on that

If you plead nolo, you will get points on your license. Get a lawyer to fix the ticket for like $50. They amend it to a non moving violation. You still pay a fine and possibly court costs, but no points, and no increase in insurance.

Yeah that's why its important the check local law...I think Texas has points but they are not as big an issue...then again I've only had 2 tickets in TX (my most recent) and 5 in Georgia when I was younger and not as cautious grin

Take it from me and just slow down. You don't want a bad driving record haunting you. TRUST ME! I still gun it from time to time, but overall, chill on the gas. Save it for an Integra or Prelude on a street you're 98%+ sure there are no cops on. Good luck.

if you go to court, you can plead guilty to a 'lesser offense' and get your ticket downgraded to a less serious offense. this will decrease the # of points you get.

that said, your ticket will still be about the same, even for the lesser charge because you will have to pay court costs.

How can a speeding ticked be amended to a non moving violation? I mean, you have to be moving if your speeding right? confused

they talk to the police and the judge and change the ticket to a non-point violation. In Jersey it's called an "operating a motor vehicle in an unsafe manner" ticket <long ass name laughsilly

It's a no-point ticket but the fine is pretty big ... basicly you admit your guilty. The thing is, is that your can only use this twice every 3 years.

And actually, you can do this yourself, you don't have to hire a lawyer to do it for you. Here in SC. it's called "Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle". You pay a hefty fine but don't lose any of the points. I had to do this for my last 2 tickets (they lumped the sums together and let it slide like it was 1 ticket). I paid $550 instead of $800 and no points instead of a loss of like 8 points or something like that.

Washington has never had a points system and I don't think texas does either. And all this slow down stuff is aload of bull, if you know the limits of your car and your limits then the speed limit is just a suggestion. The only reason the speed limit is in place is because of all the other stupid laws.

Look at the speed limit for starters, it's in place so that old people and young people, inexperinnced and experienced, nervous wrecks and nerves of steel.. can all drive at the same level.

Next how much does it cost to get a license? I think it was like 30 bucks when I got it, now lets look at another country where they don't have speed limits, it's like 2k USD. So only the people who need/want to drive do drive.

Next drinking, in that same country where they don't speed limits on a well traveled road(unless it's commute time, or there has been a accident) people start drinking from a much younger age and learn their limits, being drunk in public is also looked down upon, there for they have less drinking and driving laws because people have more common sense of what to do and what not to do when they are intoxicated.

Now my next point, people in that same country(again) know how to freaking drive, period. It's a divided freeway where in the really fun parts it's two lanes each way.. the left lane is for passing only, I mean passing only! You get over, pass, and get back over... not like the idiots do over here and just cruise in the passing lane. This country needs a autoban where you have to have an endorsment that you pay for and goto class for and are tested on.

All those things would be nice, but, the limit is posted, and unless you want to risk a ticket, slow down.

Speed limit on most freeways here in texas is 60,65 on some streches 70. I've flown by many a cop doing 15-20 above the posted and never gotten pulled over once. Although I never got a ticket in my supra but my first speeding ticket was in my celica, 84 in a 65. In eastern Oregon, but they'll pull anyone under the sun over. I got my ticket fine reduced too.

Like I said, risk.

I've blown by a couple cops doing well over the limit, they either just didn't care, or weren't running radar.

Lucky.
