Is there a way to take the mirrors apart, and install mini neons in them? The neons I have bought are 3" neon rods, thin line from lite glow. I was wondering if one can install anything back there without messing with the motor behind the mirror?

im sure you could but it would be a little ricy if you dont have the necessity looks of import from exterior. plus it might bother you when you want to look back through the mirror and probably a ticket

i'm not sure about the celica...but i know many cars' mirrors are glued onto a stud so the only way to take this off would be to break it.

I think that if you tried to install a neon back there, the mirror wouldn't have full range of adjustability any more because the neon would be in the way. Maby some tiny LED's would work better?

I don't think that any one has ever tried taking their mirrors apart to install some thing back there. You would be the first! Let us know how it goes.

if you remove the black piece from inside the cabin (by the A pillar on the door)

you can get into the mirror assembly without taking it off. It would be very tricky, but you could somehow "stuff" the LED's in there, and it would glow.

it might render the mirror unable to move, so make sure it's where you like it.

You can feed the power wires down behind the door panel, and over to the firewall

I saw this pretty nice VW Gti today at the airport.

Then I saw the side view mirrors, it ruined the whole car.

What does a VW with chrome paint have to do with this topic?

I have a bad motor in mine & tried to break it down at the shop. You can not gain full access to the internals without f^ckin up the mirror. Wouldn't do. Plus you could end up crimping the wiring trying to adjust the mirror & fry something since there is metal inside of it & other wiring.
You can't get in withou removing it from the car, you'll just hit the mirror mounting plate from inside the door.

yeah, i'm pretty sure the mirror is glued onto its mounting hardware. i think you'd have to brake the mirror to get into the internals. or you can use jamesons idea (diablogts) he talked about in the beginning of this thread. it may work, i havnt tried it.
