If I were you I would get some soap and water wash that area and rinse it off. Better you get wet than let the gas eat at your paint. You wont melt

You should have done it when you spilled it for best quality. for now just use soap and water and wash it few times. clean it with water and than after drying give it a coat of wax or two

Is gas even harmful to paint? I've never seen gas damage a paint finish before.

over time and if done a lot...yes...gas acts as a solvent...and can break down the oils in paint...which is why waxing a car is important to preserve the oils in the paint...maybe someone can back me up on this

yup. gas is not gonna take off the paint immediately but will "eat out" the paint little by little. just look at the paint under ur gas cap and paint on the best spot of ur car. one looks shinier and feels smoother.

Mine's going in next week to have the entire gas tank replaced because of it frown
R U going to have to pay anything EvanJ?

Like they said, it's free because it was a safety recall.. but it's still a pain to have to be out of a car for 3 hours while they fix it. thumbsdown

Wow, you guys should talk to your dealers. They gave me a loaner car when I dropped my celi off so they could check to see if I had the problem. They should GIVE you a loaner if its going in to have that done. thumbsdown

Yeah Heat, but your 26. Toyota has also always given me a rental when doing warranty work, but I am 25.

A lot of these younger people are probably not eligable for a rental loaner because they are not old enough...which is a bunch of crap of course. thumbsdown

We'll see.. that's what they told me, but you know how 3 hours can easily turn into a whole day when the dealer has you by the balls.

YEA JUST wipe it off right away, its no big deal really. Just don't leave it there. I get drips on my car just about everytime I get gas and I have yet to see the negative effects. Just don't leave it there all day.
