The dealer has my motor and tranny apart, he called and wanted to know if i wanted to purchase a trd clutch and flywheel and get it installed for free, because its right there. The clutch in there now is only 3 months old, but its stock. Is it worth it? How much difference does the lightweight flywheel make? Is the TRD flywheel ok? I usually get trd parts pretty cheap there, almost cost I have been told. Please let me know what to do!!

Is racing and better times at the track important to you?

not much better. but the trd clutch will let you launch at a higher rpm without smelling your clutch (burn)...but my opinion is that you can't launch much higher than 4 rpms anyway or else you will spin out which won't get you anywhere.

just depends on what you use it for. if your for the most part a casual driver with a few redlight & street races every now and then...save your $$ (you said the install was free, right? not the parts) and just get your stock clutch & flywheel put in.

if you plan on taking your car to a track often (or plan on piling up tickets with street racing & drags often), then go ahead and spend it.

i would prob get the flywheel or at least some type of lightned flywheel, but if the clutch is only 3 mon. old, you prob. wouldn't need it unless you are really hard on it

yea it depends on how you drive...
i would definitely go for it though.
i don't know why, but the toyota dealer that i had replace my clutch(8000 miles only) said they couldn't order a trd one for me because they didn't install aftermarket parts bs

i decided to order the trd clutch and leave the flywheel and get the trd exhaust at a later date. Im not very rich, i think the exhaust is better for the money, but i am hard on clutches, so i can see that worth 300 bucks

ok, it has hit the fan. Of course no one thinks that by busted up bumper was their fault. I think I would know if I cracked my own bumper. They are passing the blame back and forth between the dealer and the towing company. I hate my 320 dollar car payment for a busted up car, that I didnt even get the joy in breaking. I wanna flip out!!

i looked at the motor on the stand today. Those retards just plain do not care. My intake looks like it was attacked by guard dogs with metal teeth. Why do they must anihilate everything?

not much difference, feels like the trd clutch grabs a little quicker, little harder to push in. Other than that nothing.

the stock clutch wasn't made for high revving takeoffs. when you rev at lets say 6k or 7k rpms while at a stoplight, and drop the clutch...you'll actually 'burn' your clutch (too much friction) and this is why the smell is produced.

with a trd clutch, as well as most aftermarket peformance clutches, they can be revved higher and reduce the friction..eliminating the 'burned clutch' smell.

go to the dealer and start yelling. just say that ur paying 350$ a month to have the car with u, not to have it in a dealer and arguing about who did it. you basically didnt use it for a month, so let em give you 350 back.

usually the words "not satisfactory" go over big. I don't really know why. If that would not work you could go through with a sawed of an reclaim ur car and use it as a demolition derby car! That would be kinda neat, I bet you'd be the only celi to dominate the derby! On a serious not, the not satisfactory usally does work. Good luck with the whole thing man. Kick some ass. angry

i went in there today, to relize the tranny update for gts's requires the whole dash to come out. Along with the steering column and the...well you get it everything, including my alarm/remote start that cost me 200 plus about 5 hours of my time installing it. Well they dont want to re-install it because they are retards and say that they are illegal on manuals. Well so what, it was in there when they started on it. So i went to best buy, my place of employment and grabbed the install chart and brought it to them, and said here ya go...good luck. If they fail to install it right. I will charge them 200 bucks in labor for me to do it. Thats hopefully what being mecp certified hopefully pays off, so my install was considered "professional" ha, i wish!! any way they said wednesday definately. yea right the motor is still on a stand.

tell them to install it, but don't let them include it on the receipt (this is better for both you and them). most times if a shop does an illegal install they won't give you a receipt...obviously since your getting more than this done you need a receipt, just subtract this from it and pay cash thumbsup

that said..i hope you get your car back soon...sounds like you won't be visiting that shop again next time you need help thumbsdown

ok first, got it back, my intake was installed wrong, my remote started did not work, and i had no headlights. My reverse beeper is now gone, not thats a bad thing, and my clutch is impossible to drive, wont hardly shift in any gear w/o grinding. Took it back again, they fixed it in 5 hours. Hopefully all good now. The bumper is still crappy and it takes off sluggish when cold. This could be the 5 bucks in cheap gas they put in, or the fact that my motor has less than 20 miles on it. What do you guys think?
