first I'd like to say sorry in advance if i ask a question that is gone over all the time in the forums.

So, for an '03 celica i want to do performance upgrades.
I know of an engine, 3s-gte, that was in teh All-Trac celicas back in like early 90's. Was wondering if this bolts right up to the new celica's? also i belive it had a 6-speed tranny, does this fit either? Also, not that it would be cheap, can the AWD system be put onto the new celica's?

If that route is hopless i am wondering this... What all can be done to the GTS motor? I would really like to get a turbo kit for that engine, if theres one out there. Currently the car is a GT but it'd be kool to sleep it out. Even if there is a turbo kit for the 1zz-fe engine, is there a better swap that could be done? from another car, possibly already turbo'd or supercharged?

thanks VERYYYY much for any info you have for me, im having trouble finding info on teh forum about upgrades liek these, seems to be a lot of stuff on intakes and exhaust though smile

don't know about the older celica engines.

there are turbo kits and supercharger kits for the gts.

the xs engineering turbo is very good quality (about 4,500) and the blitz supercharger is also nice (again..about 4,500) thumbsup

and with enough $$, it is possible to put awd into your celica..but i wouldnt recommend it.

if you have many more questions i would recommend the "search" feature found at the top of the forum page and within forums as well. thumbsup

first let me say sorry for being a complete idiot and not knowing that the new celicas come with a 6speed anyway, i thought I had to use the old one as my only option. looks liek a 1zz-fe then turbo kit is the best option

ok, i'll ask this, is there a cheaper way to get a new engine than from the dealership, all i know of is junkyards and thats hit or miss.

Also, this question is important, other than engine and tranny, is there a difference between the gt and the gts? as in axles or anything else that would be weaker on the gt?

Trying to get the 3s-gte engine will take a lot of work and money to make it fit right. Ive only seen it done once.

If you have a GT, 5 spd, turbo it.

If you have a GT auto, don't bother.

If you have a GTS auto, don't bother.

If you have a GTS 6spd, turbo it.

Other than that, nothing you can do to get crazy power.

the only other thing that would be different from the gt and gts other than the engine and drivetrain would mainly be the brakes. (gt only gets front brakes..with drums being placed on the rear wheels)

there is an article this month in one of the inport mags on a 3sgte swap into a GTS. You need custom fabricated mounts and axles, and a few other things.
