OK, so i have been here in daytona for a while, and i just got back from a trip up north for christmas. when i got back i have the white film on my car, looked like salty water spots. i thought, well that sucks, and i went and washed my car. when i did the white spots came off, but in their place there was a bunch of little gray rings. i would take a pic and post it, but it is hard to see. it sort of feels like what ever was on my car eat away at the clear coat/paint. this is all over my car, and it looks like i have water spots all over the place - yet they seem permanent. a guy i work with said 3000 grit buffing compound and a good wax would do it, but im looking for other input as well, any tips?

only like 10 days, and my car was in a covered garage the whole time... the only problem that i had other than the paint problem was i accidentally armed my alarm and my battery went dead, had to get a jump from somebody at the airport... but this paint thing is really scaring me, i don't really want to have to re-paint my entire car.

Try using some 3M finish restorer. You can get it any most automotive stores. After that, use a good car olish to restore the gloss. This really shouldn't be a huge deal, just a little elbow grease and you'll be good. Our cars have a good clearcote on them to guard against this very thing. An electric buffer would be nice, but otherwise, just use a clean terry cloth to rubb the comound on, and another one to buff it back off. Good luck to ya!

just regular wax! for smooth/soft feel on rough surfaces use clay. one of these should solve the problem

it probably something that just needs to be buffed out. the eletric buffer suggestion would probably be best, but you case use the other compounds mentioned with similar effect thumbsup
