How hard would it be if i installed my own subs and amp?
i bought 2 12"s(alpine type R) and an jbl bp600.1 amp for my 00 gt celi. ill get a box later. I can get wires for liek 20-30 and was wonderign how hard would it be if i did it all my self?
is it worth it?

its not hard at all. there are install guides all over the web if you need help and of course we have a few audioheads right here on ecelica that can help you tons thumbsup

and in my opinion its definately worth it. you learn more about your car and can more easily recognize & replace problems with your system. and of course theres the pride factor that comes into play anytime you do something yourself.

unless you are doing a custom celica install in your trunk (your box fits around your car)...the installation should be universal. any installation speaker guide will do thumbsup

Dang. 2 Alpine 12" R's. I got one of those in my 00 celi and it shakes the whole car. When you get done put up a pic of your trunk I would really be interested in seeing how you get it all to fit and look nice. My trunk looks horrible with only one in there. They are so deep compared to the lesser quality subs.

cool, so do you got a pic of your trunk? im still deciding if i want to go ported or sealed. im too lazy to make a box so ill probbly just buy a Q logic box off ebay or somthing. plus that install... dammit, now i have to learn how to solder.

anyways, how hard does your celi rattle? i got a 00 celi also. wonder if i need dynamat.

you should not have to solder anything, dude if you ask me, comming from where you are which sounds like not much knowledge of stereo installs (no offense) just take all your stuff to circuit city, good guys or best buy, I know circuit city does it for $50 and now if you have any probs after the install, you take it to them and let them have the headache of finding the problem, which really there shouldnt be any, its very simple if you know what you r doing... Trust me, its a $50 well spent if you dont know what you r doing..

GL with everything though, and do post some final pics thumbsup

I agree with him, I know enough about stereo systems but I don't know jack about installing them. I'm always too afraid to install it myself just incase I get something backwards so I usually just ask someone to do it for me that knows what they're doing. Better safe than sorry.

yeah, your right. I dont know shit about the install. so all i gotta do is bring all the stuff to them? do i have to provide them with all the materials? (wires,box) do they know how to wire the subs and amp together right? just wondering

go ported if you listen to rap, hip hop, or rock for most of your listening

go sealed if you listen to techno, trip (my fav), pop, or jazz for most of your listening.

Just take everything you have, it will work out cheaper if you bring all the maaterials and just have them do the actual install, let them know what type of music you will be listening to mostly and they will take it from there thumbsup

Truely hooking it up insnt hard, i have taught my self everything i know about car steros, installed the headunit and 10 changer and subs all by my self (17 year old in remedial classes) The hardest part i think was getting through the firewall, because you gotta find a spot, but on this site they show you with good pictures and all. Second hardest was the clips under the back seats you gotta un-do to pull up the seat to lay the wires down. Easiest part was straping down the box, i got some brackets from home depot, un folded them, and used some screws that were left over from my head unit install (cause i had to flip over the bracket, to match it against my new head unit) Ill take some pics, and post in this forum for ya

it truel isn't hard, but if you don't know any thing about wireing and want a warrenty then get professional install.
personally i like doing things myself, but only because i'm good with my hands and at figuring things out, not mention i'v been working with, carbenters, electricians, auto repair, and auto frabrication people for about 4 years.
