You would need a lot of money...keep it at that. It is not worth it to do that. You would need a lot of stuff including a new tranny...back clip (think thats the word) and more.

if you were to convert a fwd to a awd you might as well should trade itin for a car that is awd like a evo or sti

the sti is ugly...its gonna be loads & loads of cutom work though. the things mentioned above and most probably even more.

might have to get different springs as well to flatten out the stance of the celia. (make the bottom of the celica more of a straight line with the pavement rather than having the nose angled towards the ground)

you would need a rear-end, a drive shaft, and some kind of custom transfer case.
as said above, it will cost lots of money and it's not worth it.

You might as well convert a Celica from FWD to RWD, not AWD. You would probably be slow as hell because it takes a lot more power to get all four wheels going, and you would be putting a lot of stress upon your engine and tranny. Not to mention, your gas mileage would suffer, but I bet that would be the least of your problems.

really it would take the same amount of power because you would only have to move 1/4 of the car on 4 wheels. with rwd (and fwd) you'd have to move 1/2 the car on 2 wheels..its basically the same diff. acceleration is much better in a rwd vehicle though..but that has nothing to do with power.

the fastest stock production car in the world, the bugatti 16.4 veyron, uses awd. more "moving" tires = more traction = more grip = less power wasted on spinout.

you will get much better launches with allwheel drive, but after 60' it will slow you down, all wheel drive sucks about 15% of the engines power, and fronwheel drive sucks about 10% of the engines power, so you dont get as much power to the wheels, ...but...if you turbo your car after getting all wheel drive it will be CRAZY fast

yeah, i don't know the percentages...but friction does = lost power. more wheels = moer friction = more lost power. thats a very good point.

yeah...like have a quad-turbocharged w12 (two twin-turbo'd v8's mated together)

but hey...they did awd for a reason. launching is one of them.

wouldnt that be a w16, I still like the thinking though. I would personally go for the Boxer 12. Two inline six's (best creation of man to date) lying flat. Multi turbos of course.

its going to take a lot of work and money!you will need an awd tranny(the celica gt4 has a good tranny)but its more than that cause you have to cut a whole lot of shit to get the tranny to fit,the exhaust has to be rerouted...i'm not going to go any further you have to get a tranny that can fit first.i just remember that its the 7th gen celica 2zzge you are refering to! the celica tranny i not going to fit cause of the huge housing that wraps around the back of the engine!it would be sitting right where the exhaust manifold is right now! it can be done but the tranny would be the hardest part.i'm pretty sure another "type" awd tranny can work but you would have to do the whole tranny plate, resplining shaft, bit(a fuckking pain in the ass)i would go with a rwd set up instead. 3rd gen 3sgte,is200(ateeza)tranny or any toyota "W" rear wheel tranny, and a nice independent rear suspension!(gt4 or vette)if you still want to try i can sell you a gt4 awd tranny with act stage 4 clutch,i would throw in the output shaft as well.

No, it doesn't take the same amount of power. More power from the engine is lost when it is given to all four wheels, rather than just two. Yes, your launches would be better, but having AWD on a Celica would be quite stupid.

yes, you're right...more power would be lost due to the frictdion of having to power all 4 wheels. but you're launches would be better because you could launch at a higher rpm and not worry so much about spinout. all 4 wheels would give you better traction...although as mentioned you would lose some power. been covered already, read up thumbsup

rwd is the most common sense method. it is far superior of fwd and you won't lose as much power as awd. with awd you should launch a tad better though...so it just depends on how you use your car.

this post reminds me of myself
i have found out that ur best bet ist get something like mabey a Skyline, or something less expansive, rip all of the body off and get a body shop to make it look like the celi, but longer(you get the body work done in most places for less than 7k, double that and then some if you want to convert the drivetrain and make it work right(with good quallity parts). plus you won't be nearly as fast

its a very good idea and a new spin on what we were talking about...but 7k to totally redo the exterior of a car? that would be a great deal. not really trying to argue, but i don't see how it would be that cheap seeing as you would probably have to cut the roof off + other things, then get every exterior part of your celica replica to be custom made...as they most likely will not bolt on to another cars spec locations & such.

well mabey not exactly 7k, and thats if you stripp it down yourself. it really depends on the body shop and the general shape of the car your starting with, and how much you want it to look exactly like the celi. i pretty much just talking about similar bumpers, hood, and "general" shape

plus i was kind of being sarcastic, because of how many replies get posted to these kinds of threads, saying how expensive its(and there not lying).

the only way i would say go for it is if ur a master mechanic, have tones of tools and supplies (not to mention time), then def go for it, otherewise not to sure

and by the way you can argue with me i don't mind, i take criticism easily and don't get mad, it's all good

^^ not arguing and don't wanna argue. was just making a point that iwould think it would be more than 7k to do a complete body restyling.

it is a good idea though thumbsup and after all...it can't be all that much more expensive/cheaper to do that then to convert your whole tranny etc. not to mention any problems you have after the install would have to be custom repaired. with a complete body restyling, the mechanics (most expensive in my opinion) would not have to be custom repaird since you are leaving the drivetrain alone.

when converting a celica from frd to awd, any harm done to your drivetrain would have to be custom repaired, but the exterior would be cheaper to replace since you are using ready-made pieces (as opposed to custom exterior pieces for a body restyling)
