You probably already knew it, but British newspaper Fleet News says Japanese cars are the most reliable.
Fleet News published last week the results of a survey of almost 800,000 vehicles operated by Britain's biggest contract hire companies.
The survey showed Toyota, Honda and Lexus were closely matched in both the most reliable manufacturer and the most reliable model categories.
"This survey is the biggest of its kind in the country. It shows that Japanese truly deserve their reputation for building reliable cars," wrote Fleet News editor John Maslen.
"This provides a clear guide for private car drivers and company car operators wishing to ensure that their vehicle spend as much time as possible on the road and as little time as possible in the garage."
Only multi-marque leasing companies were included in the survey.
The most reliable cars were rated according to the lowest number of breakdowns per 100 models.
Points were awarded according to the number of times vehicles or models appeared in tables supplied by the leasing firms and for the position in which they were placed.
Toyota was top and Honda was second in the manufacturer survey.
Lexus, Toyota's luxury arm, was third. The first German brand to appear was BMW, in fourth place.
Then came Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Ford, and Mazda.
Completing the top-10 were Audi and Mitsubishi.
The survey found the Honda Accord the most reliable model, moving up from the fourth place it took last year.
The Toyota Avensis was close behind, followed by the Lexus IS200 and Toyota Yaris (Echo in New Zealand). The Mercedes-Benz E-class completed the top five.
Other models in the top-10 were the BMW 3-Series, Toyota Corolla, Ford Ka, Mini and Ford Mondeo.
