Broken Lift bolts?

i tried to hit lift in my 03 GTS and when i get past 6000 rpms i dont really feel anything kicking in. my car only has 3000 miles on it so i dont know how the lift bolts would be broken. am i even trying to hit lift at the wrong rpm range? i dont have a manual i just try it in sport-shift mode. i really need to figure out if i need this checked when i bring my car into Toyota get the trunk light fixed. Any help would be great

i have only had the car for 2 weeks so if i did it would be in first gear and in sportshift mode and i dont know what it feels like when the car goes into lift i actually tried doing it in first this morning and i went past 6000 rpms and all it did was just kept the same droning sound that it gives when you need to change gears. no sudden jumps or anything.

hmmm...havent heard of lift bolt problems that early...especially when you havent gone into lift before...I thought that the '03 and up celica's had stronger lift bolts...or maybe it's the 04's.

did you warm up your car??? lift wont engage if you dont
mine kicks in about 6200 rpm and you just feel your car accelerate faster and your engine screams, you wont feel a major jolt just a slight movement coz of accelerating faster. other than that i dunno idunnoidunnowhat year is your car?? is it a 04 coz if it is 3000 miles is a lot to travel in 2 weeks , well at least for me thumbsup

Yeah the car has to be almost all the way warm before the ECU will allow you to go into lift. You do have the new style lift bolt. I have 2000 GTS and this weekend I am going to replace them with the new style to make sure they don't break.

yea, make sure the engine is up to temp.
and usually you won't feel it and hear it as much if your car is stock... put an exhaust and Intake and then you will DEFINITELY tell! good luck to ya thumbsup

Actually, lift does engage when the engine is cold, however it won't let you rev passed 7200RPM

It engages, because one time I did this when my car was cold not thinking, and it pushed me into my seat and then died at 7200RPM

bad for the engine! Let her warm up!

Lift does not enagage unless the engine is at a specific temperature (can't remember the exact temp off the top of my head). Try it again you'll see.

the engine won't rev passed 7200RPM, but lift DOES engage on my car, it just kicks out at 7200RPM

i believe the engine coolant has to reach a temperature of 60 degrees before lift will engage.

It's soemthing like that and all celicas have it. Question like this seemed to come up every two weeks over the summer and 99% of the time it was just the fact that their car was not warm enough yet.

yeah def make sure it is warmed up before trying to go to lift...my 02 hits lift at 6k and rev. limiter at 7800...but if the engine is still cold...no lift and rev. limiter at 7000...

Congrats! Now that uve popped the cherry, how does it feel? lift doesnt engage at cold engine temperature, or else its not strong at all and kicks in late. for louder, more noticeable lift, Intake will help. ull hear it getting louder. lift with Intake is like extra cheese in a double-double
