anyone else replace the belt tensioner assembly and drive belt on a 2000/2001 gts to rid themselves of a chirping/sqealing noise from that area of the engine?

disabling me will result in loss of primary power.

Dealer did it twice under warranty. I use Prestone dressing from Walmart whenever I get any type of squeak now. It holds up as well as a belt change (my warranty is gone). Mine only starts to sqeak after a long period of rain.

I have once under warranty...if you dont have warranty, go with dvs1's method of using a belt dressing, or your looking at about 400 bucks to have it replaced by the dealer

Mine just started making noise last week. It only does it when the car has been sitting for a long time like early in the morning. Does this mean that mine is going bad??????
I still got warrenty left.

turn your car on and open your hood to see where the noise is coming from

I am on my 4th one. When the dealrship replaces it the parts and labor has a year warranty even if your car doesn't have warranty.

I think that I've found the noise. It's the belt under the large plastic piece on the passengers side. Does this mean that I need to get it replaced??
