YO, please help me out. I'm getting a GTS in about 10 days. AND I NEED SPEED. (Torque torque torque). What are the best mods to get that? Intake, headers, exhaust?
( I don't wanna get a turbo. 2 Much for my skinny wallet. deal )
Can you also tell me what are the best brands for each mod! Thanks peace cheers

with bolt-ons, you can get improved TOP END torque, but initial torque may decrease. that said

i'd get an injen cai [intensepower.com]

greddy evo exhaust [intensepower.com] (good power gain, 50 state legal)

trial header [intensepower.com]

there is also a dc motorsports header for the gts that is scheduled to come out this month...the power gains are even better than trial and dc motorsports is a very reputable company. thumbsup

aem pulley is good. or the unorthodox series pulleyes. still lowers initial torque..but the top end makes up for it.

i've heard a lot of complaints about the unorthodox pullies, also I believe someone on this board blames the pully on destroying his oil pump. Quantity is not always better, i'd go with the aem pully. It gives you less, but also doesnt hurt your engine.

good link thumbsup sounds beleivable.

one thing though: "Fact 2 - consider the time of failure - just after 6200 rpm when he hit lift. What changes at 6200 RPM? Certainly not the RPM, not significantly anyways. So then what? Torque. Sudden application of large amounts of torque (ie: twisting force). Peak Torque on 2ZZ is 6800 RPM. Hence, the effect of torsional vibration (crank flex) from an undampened pulley will increase significantly in that time. If the failure was viscosity or weakness related it would have much more likely have happened at a higher RPM, not simply at the point just after lift apply"

after 6k rps lift does occur and torque is increased, but rpm also goes up very rapidly do to it. also max horsepower is achieved.

not disagreeing with the article..just that "fact 2". lots of things happen past 6,000 rpms. vvtl-i kicks in.

it was just a thought. maybe the pulleys were actually the cause of it, but in my opinion it was probably a combination of things. i doubt the pulleyes themselves did it (although they might not have helped)

I totally agree with you. Many parts are like that...it doesnt hurt the car itself..just helps hurt it when mixed with it's other 'hurting buddies'. thumbsdown

Damn I just wanna thank everyone who has replied to my questions. I put them up about 2 hours ago, and I just came back from my girlfriends house - by driving a little rental white automatic focus, because a guy fell asleep and totaled my car a week ago(that's why i'm getting the new car) - and decided to check if someone had read my forum, and found out that I got 11 replies. laughsilly THANKS

BTW, as soon as I get the car i'm getting the kaminari body kit + TRD spoiler. But i think the kaminari front bumper is kinda too simple, so i was trying to find out a cooler looking bumper. What do you think?

About the speed, i guess i'm getting the exhaust, then air intake, then headers, then pulleys.. is that the right order, if i don't get them all at the same time?

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE ANSWERS PEEEACE

no problem. i think you have a good order as far as mods go. the intake and exhaust are pretty much interchangeable, but i (like you) would probably get an exhaust first because it is more noticeable.

body kits: i personally like the kaminari (as far as 4 piece kits are concerned), but it does look more or less like a lowered stock bumper. you might want to try wings west w-type, ground designs 2000 black widow II, veilside II, or c-one. thumbsup

Bodykit wise, I think a pure veilside kit looks great, along with veilside sides and back, and a blitz front. I really think that looks good.

illusive is only one of a few who have had problems with the pullies. For the mild increase they give I don't think I would want to have them in my car. Honestly I'd say don't do any mods including the kit and start saving for a turbo lol.

If not go with the ehxaust, cai, headers, and grounding kit (not a lot of power but a useful cheap mod).

Another mod to look into is a an LSD very, very useful to have.

while everyone is entitled to their own opinions...my opinion is that the blitz front is too ricy. try to keep the look clean. i do like the veilside sides, but i'm not a fan of its rear.

I used to have the same opinion as you, though it sorta grew on me ya know? I also used to not like Veilside II but it grew on me.
