Normal driving i shift every gear at about 3-4 RPMs...

Racing...redline every gear.

Yea if you just get a good shift to second you can chirp the tires easy...i have 18s on and i can still do it grin

If you want to know what the optimal shift point is and you are in the mooth for some calculations here is a nice link:
(just read the conclusion grin )
The Optimal Shift Point [welltall.com]

In daily drivin conditions, I shift at 4500 or something.

there's really no power under 3K ... the celica is meant to be revved ... that's why it has such a high rev line.

GTS here, I usually shift all gears like most everyone else, between 3-4k. A good shift doesn't necassarily mean redline, it's more so not making the car jerk when you shift it.

Since people are talking about redlining every gear while racing, where do you race, the streets? And if so, I doubt anyone has redlined their last gear because then they would be going around 130mph, and for Celicas that would take a fairly lengthy stretch.. perhaps a mile or so is my guess.

Daily driving, I shift at 2K. When I feel like moving anywhere b/t 4K and 5K. And whenever I feel like speeding or proving a point to some ass riding my bumper the engine screams to redline.

Normally I redline 3rd gear and some of 4th when getting on the highway on the way to work.

As for the last two gears I don't think anybody ever implied they redline those gears. 5th and 6th gear don't have much use when it comes to racing.

Driving a car with less HP I would shift from 2500-3200 normal straight rode. I shifted my GTS the same new. The manual says when to shift - just look. I'ts too cold and snowy to look outside and my car is a GTS but I remember reading that to shift into 5th at 45 that would be around 3500 for a 6 speed.

Racing? Eh...haven't raced anyone since I got my car (about 2 months ago) except myself, that's when I shift above 6K. I hit 125mph tonight on the 210w in La Verne. w00t! grin
