Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Altrac Intercooler

Can anyone give me some infor about the Altrac water/air intercooler? I am building a custom turbo for my Mazda and was considering using it as my intercooler. I will be running 4-9 psi and I have a 2.5l V6. I was hoping some of you celica gurus can give me some insight as to if this intercooler is good flowing or a restriction.

it all depends on which alltrac/gt4 intercooler you have! is it the 1st,2nd or 3rd gen? the 2nd and 3rd gen are flat and square,usually black,the 1st gen is kinda irregular shaped has colors. any one can take the 9psi. but the 2nd and 3rd gen found in the 94 up gt4 or any alltrac/gt4 wrc 90 to 1993 is better can handle more boost.

Thanks for the reply. At the time I have no intensions of going over 9psi. my fuel is not set up for any more boost than than that and my engine is not built for it anyway. I was looking at the colorful 1st gen one. In the future I may build the engine and upgrade the fuel to run more boost. probably 14psi but if I do that I would probably get an air/air IC anyway.
