Should i attempt a new type of exhaust setup for Celica?
Anyone familar with the sides of the chryshelr crossfire? or the Mercedes McLaren? They exhaust exits are on the sides of the car located at the end of the side skirts, when i thought about this, it could be duable, just take 2 2in-3in pipes weldto together bend in a semi vshape with a flange on other end to hook to the cat, shorter and no resnoators or mufflers... anyone attempt this custom job? i like the way it lewk on the mercedes mclaren? Any feedback would be great..

i think its more of a muscle thing for those types of cars, but then again i'd have to see it, i def dont think it would look good towards the front like the McLaren

go ahead and try it, wanna see how it looks. But when I installed my straight pipe & removed my cat I started up the car b4 puttin everythin back and HOLY SH*T it was loud! eek Thats the only thing that would detour me thumbsup It would be a first too, but I dont think its gonna be as easy as you described it though ya might run into some logistics problems. ive had similar ideas...course i never looked into it. this sounds silly, but i have a skyline model that has a side exhaust, and it looks pretty good (thats actually where i got the idea from), and i know, its a skyline not a celi, but i still think it would look good. and i thought the crossfire exhaust was centered in the back?

There's a kit for the pontiac sunfire that converts the exhaust to a side pipe setup, it only has a single pipe on one side of the car, I saw it in a tuner magazine, the exhaust was hidden by a special side skirt with a cutout for the rectangular exhaust tip, looked pretty cool.

It'd take some work, but you could do it, I've seen it on one or two imports, stick with a single pipe, not a dual setup (not enough backpressure) and put it on the passenger side of the car. also, be careful, my bro's friend gene has a 427 cobra w/side pipes, and I used to have an old vette with them for a while, be careful not to burn your legs when getting in or out of the car (heat shields and proper covers can help in this regard...)

mm good feedback on the exhaust burning your legs never though about that need to actually draw it out.. but in my head and in some photochoped images it lewks good, but im still thinking of kinda of tips would go with a celica?? Hm im gonna get estimate tommorow for installation, and fabrication of the piping i want, only think left is tips, and estimate on how much body shop will charge me to mold my side skirts... im thinking of wingswest kit and cut, shave, mold skirts on end to flow with the tips... i know about the whole back pressure issure, but the pipes are curved quite widely and pipe is like really short (i.e time it take for gases to enter piping and exit car) so i dont think back pressure would be a great problem...
