isaac, i think in the install guides there should be one for how to remove and replace the tail lights. theres one about how to do the red-out tails, but just recently i installed new tail lights on my car and it took forever for me to do. just a suggestion for all the celica modding newbies.

On page 219 of the Toyota Celica Owner's Manual, there is a pictorial with some deails of this and of what bulbs are need and where they fit. Other than that, there are just three 10mm bolts holding on the tail lamps...

i know, but the biggest problem i had was getting that one upper hidden bolt. it seriously took both my, my dad and my boyfriend 2 hours to finally get at it, and we actually had to cut *shivers* somve of the plastic. though its not noticable after you put the panel on. im not sure if we just didnt have the right tools or what.
EDIT: i was just suggesting this for newbie modders that might not have any idea how to do it. i found only one other installation guide for this and it was on new celica, but it was very poorly written.

well man i dunno what the deal was with my tail light bolts then...we used everything from wratchets to wrenches to pliers and we STILL couldnt get that damn bolt undone between the three of us. it was on there really tight too, as opposed to the other bolts where you just loosened it emi-easily and screwwed it off. EDIT: isaac, now that i look at that second pic you posted, it looks like you undid your trunk plastics to be able to get to the tail lights? we didnt do that, we were afraid we'd mess up the trunk plastics by doing so. we just undid the little side panel and unscrewed the bolts from there. i dunno.

its no worries... I know that sometimes the bolts are on there pretty tight and without exactly the correct tools (10mm socket wrench or 10mm open-end), I had stripped a few bolt heads on my Celica at one time or another. One thing I've learned through the whole process is, if I don't have the correct tools for loosening a bolt, don't even try - because anything that could happen, could be bad. ie; using pliers on a bolt-head will eventually strip it to nothing

You cut the plastic? Just remove the plastics from your trunk and you'll have no problem getting to that screw. Here is a link to directions with pics from Satoshi's site [ plaza.umin.ac.jp]

well, considering i dont know how to mod my car out at all, the only reason for me making this thread was for people like me who had no idea, and could find no particular install guides online for doing this. it wasnt a question about how to do it. its already been done. it was just a suggestion to add something to the site for newbie modders like myself. so like i said, nevermind. its all done and over with now.

The only thing I would have done differently in the install of my taillights would be having a few stiff drinks for when I was finished. Isaac is right though, using the right tool is essential even in doing the simplest mods. Until I got a little wrench that was the perfect size for the bolts, I was drenched in sweat trying to get them out with a different (although very similar wrench) You won't need to remove any trunk plastics but just take your time, especially on the hidden bolt...otherwise you'll drop it like I did and I have no idea where it is now.

I'll be replacing some bulbs this weekend, I'll make up a detailed pictorial on this for ya Jess!
Good idea, the more install help we have the better!
