Is it normal for my exhaust to leave this much carbon deposits or soot, or whatever that black stuff is?

This is the silencer, which was originally all the silver color, after being installed for less than one month.

Is this the silencer from your Invidia exhaust?
It looks a lot different from mine.
Mine has little holes in the pipe and it's wrapped in steel wool (dunno how you call it).

Other than that, I don't think it's bad your silencer looks like that.

Is your 'droning' less with the silencer in?
How's your sound inside when you let go off the gas?

Yeah, that's the silencer that came with my Invidia exhaust. Having it in makes a pretty big difference in the amount of "droning" I hear. When I let off the gas or if I'm just cruising, I hardly hear the exhaust. It still idles a little deeper and louder than stock, but it's mostly just when I accelerate that you can tell it's different than stock.

Without the silencer, letting up on the gas sometimes produces a "burbling" sound, but I don't notice that with the silencer in. For the most part, I like the sound with the silencer in, I just wish it was a tad louder at idle and during acceleration. I don't really like the looks of it though.

I think its normal. Unless you are driving on LPG.
Do you have cars that drive on LPG in America?

I know there are a few (emphasis on few) vehicles in America that run on natural gas (methane). I don't know if there are any that run on LPG (propane/butane).
