How are the air vents removed?

I have the actual direction vent part of the vent removed, but there still is the issue of that round thing that turn clockwise/counter-clockwise that needs to also be taken out.



in the above EXAMPLE picture from tony's car, ive taken out the silver part of the air vent, i just need some advice on how to remove that remaining red part

Im stuck at this point. thanks for ANY suggestions you can give

I finally got my project done... i just drilled the vents out (yeah, they are NOT going back into my car now. photos coming soon

ondering how to get the whole vent out myself. I was going to have the whole vent machined out of alumin. but the whole dash has to come out and the vents pop out the back. Decided it would be too much trouble.
