how can i make the ride in my celica as smooth as possible?

i dont know much about cars... just bought my 01 celica about 3 weeks ago and the ride is smooth but not as smooth as... a mercedes or some luxury cars i've been in (i realize its a sportscar)... what parts would i have to change to make the ride comparable to a luxury car?... shocks? struts?

im clueless...

You might want to look into an air ride system of some kind. The factory set-up is pretty smooth ride but most people get suspension upgrades to improve handling and response but at a cost of a stiffer ride. Most of the companies I can think of aren't in the market to make your car ride like a Mercedes but there's probably something out there

There isn't much you can do with springs. Aftermarket springs are usually stiffer than stock. You may want to experiment with aftermarket shocks. Also, make sure your wheels are properly balanced and tires properly inflated.

ok... so its the springs that control it. and the stiffer they are... the more bumpy the ride. i guess that makes sense.

so when looking for shocks... i should try to find ones that move up and down very easily.

stiffer shocks are better for racing???

Stiffer the suspension, more bumps you feel, rougher the ride, but handling is better. If you wanna make your car ride smooth, I reccomend buying any other car than a celica. grin

get some aftermarket shocks for sure. If you lowered it and you didnt get shocks then your facotry ones are probably beat and bottoming out.

thanks everyone.

Steven... i`ll look into those tokico shocks.

my friend was telling me that his airbags use cylinders and that`s why his ride is so bumpy... and that if i get true bags under the car the ride will be extremely smooth, but that it will probably cost me about 3G's to get it done right.
