I ma not trying to turn this into another turbo-thread, but I can't find a satisfying answer to the following question:

If I put a turbo in my celica GT (6 speed) is it absolutely necessary to upgrade clutch/flywheel/transmission/others ?

By necessary I mean they will die within a year if I don't replace them.

Current transmission/clutch/etc is built for about 100k-150k miles I assume. How muchwill a turbo decrease the lifetime with normal driving and occasional powerdriving?

Replace the clutch directly when the turbo is put in or wreck the standard clutch first?

Which clutch would be best you reckon?

stock clutch can't hold the torque that the Turbo produces, you'll kill it in the first day.

As for brands ... either ACT or RPS

What about the stock flywheel? Can it hold up for a few months?

I had planned on going with an XS kit, egt, oil pressure, boost gauge and finnally a new clutch when I got the kit. Then as I got more money drop in a new flywheel and LSD.

Can I hold off for a bit on the flywheel?

Haha I say kill the stock clutch first, but whatever. Just find a empty parking lot and do some powerbraking or reverse 180s.

Yah looks like I could hold off on the clutch and just wait till I have the money for the clutch/lsd/flywheel all at once. So I'll probably drive around on the stock clutch for a month or two.

probebly best...why have a pro drop the tranny 3 times when they only need to drop it once...way cheaper in the long run...

Yah well I was only going to drop it twice. Because I didn't think the clutch would last long enough. Still my current clutch onl has like 15k miles on it I think. If it can last 1,000 miles on the XS turbo then I'll be plenty happy.
