I would suggest a light weight flywheel, clutch, and either a nitrous or turbo kit.

Stick to the basics, Cold Air Intake, header, cat-back exhaust, light weight rims, sticky tires, stronger clutch, Limited slip diff., lighter flywheel, weight-reduction and suspension work.

the LSD and suspension will help for launching and cornering.

There needs to be a sticky post on all the basic power mods that can be done to the celica including the mod and manufacturer and what kind of gains they have, like c.a.i., exhausts, headers, pulleys, ss, suspension mods, flywheels, lsd, clutches, nitrous, F.I., ...

The reason that EvanJ was questioning the power increases that were suggested is because GT's simply don't make that much additional power from those mods. Check out these dyno runs that were performed on the same Celica GT that compaires different Intakes to the stock factory set up...

http://www.newcelica.org/other/dyno/byebyebaby/dyno4.jpg

The best of the two Intakes, Injen, only produced a power increase of 0.5 HP over what the stock air box produces. Aftermarket exhausts produce equally unimpressive gaines on GT's. The only bolt on GT modification that really justifies the cost is aftermarket headers, and even those don't really give you a huge increase.

If you are serious about changing the fact that your GT only has 140 hp, then you need to spend some cash on a turbo charger. If the turbo charger is too expensive for you, then the next best thing to up your power is to spend your cash on a nitrous system. These are the only two things that will make a significant difference with your GT, with all those other popular bolt on's, all your really doing is just spending your cash...
