Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior recalibrating gauges difficult or easy?

I am thinking about changing my gauge leds.
I am not at all worried about the soldering, I soldered way smaller parts.

I am however a bit worried about getting my gauges recalibrated after the change.

Isn't it just as easy as hooking up the gauge panel without the plastic panel in front so you can access the needles.
Then turn the key to the 'acc' position and put on the needles pointed towards the 0 (mph/kmh) and 0 rpm's ?

Would that work?
If not, how else to get the rpm's right?

you don't have to take your gauge needles off to change the gauge LED's...I don't think...

nooo for LEDs you dont' have to take them off...i just did them 2 weeks ago...very easy...just take ur time

Then how do I get the gauge face off?

Are the needles not removed in this install ?

The needles are attached to the front face of the gauge cluster.

okay, one more question.

I am thinking about buying this gauge overlay, since it's the only one with just km/h on it, and noone has it, and it's white.


However the holes for the needles to go through seem smaller than on the ac gauges or others.

If I was to remove my needles would the method I described in the original post work to get them right?

alright this is strictly my opinion. recalibrating sucks. my speedo has been screwed up for 2 months now. i have been 5 miles off 10 also and even right on the money and something goes wrong. i might not have the pins in enough or even too much...if any buddy can tell me what is going wrong...i checked connections and everything...oh well thats my opinion...keep the needles on!
