I want to change the color of the dash to a darker gray. I don't know if I need to get a dye for this, or if a paint would be better. Has anyone done this with success? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for the welcome, silver.

I though about the fiberglass thing, but you're right, that's a lot of $$$, and way too much effort for a lazy part time paint store employee like me. Besides, i want to keep the clean, high quality (but not flashy) look on the interior of my car. Basically, i want it to look like the kind of interior that you would get with an Italian, or German.

i wanted to leave the dash with the texture, but a darker gray

Here's the scoop:

Most automotive stores carry a product called SEM, it is a paint formulated specifically for interior vinyl and plastic. It is available in 16oz spray cans, and at some places, in pints, quarts, and gallons. The open containers (non aerosol) are custom tintable, and can be matched to most any color you want (handy for touchup). The aerosols are available in a fair variety of standard and specialty colors.

PPG and DuPont also have similar products. All of these are flexible after drying to allow for the normal wear and tear of a car's interior, and are also scratch resistant.

SO... to those of you who want to change your interior color, paint away. I'll have pics of mine as soon as i get it done.
