I just go tin my car to go to the post office and as soon as I started it I heard a swoosh noise from under the dash on the passengers side. It has never done that before.
I have an 02 GTS and the only major mods that I've done to it are a Injen short ram and an HKS Exhaust. Both have been on the car for awhile.
Should I be worried about this? idunno

Did you have your AC on?

This sound can come from the condensor (I believe) and its perfectly normal.

I hear that in my car after it's been running a long time, I shut it off, and get back in it 15 minutes later.

It's normal! thumbsup

well, if you open on your glove box you will notice two little black circles on each side (like tabs)

if you undo them, your glove box will fall open and you can look behind there.

You will see all the climate control duct work back in there, and thats where the sound came from.

If you are allergic to stuff, get a hypo-algergentic house air filter and stick that in this area, you will notice a HUGE difference!

If you need better pics, I can take you some when I get home! thumbsup thumbsup

I highly doubt thats what this is.

Having the air ducts back there and the way he described the sound, I hear it all the time when I run the AC and sometimes not.

It's normal. If you want to get it checked at a dealer, feel free, but once you tell them what you heard, they will tell you what I just did.

I heard the same noise everytime I had to replace the belt tensioner. I am on the 4th one. sounds like water running through a bent water hose. Only happens for a few seconds at a time when the car is cold.

Are you hearing a gurgling water noise? If so, its your coolant, its probably low or has air in it.

Open the top of the coolant container and release any extra air, and have Toyota top it off(they did this for me for free). The reservoir for this is under the front engine panels.

I didn't read the title of this thread very well...

If you hear a gurgle, it's the coolant.

If you hear the woosh sound, it's the A/C thumbsup

I thought you meant a woosh not a gurgle. The title and the actual description were two different things spineyes

Sorry about that. I kind of freak when somethings wrong with my baby and everything else gets second priority.
I'd probably still have a stock car if it wasn't for ECelica and everyone that helped me. grin thumbsup
