I'm about to order a new set of wheels.
I was at the shop today, the guy said he could fit 225/40/18' under my car, but the same rims in 19" with 225/35/19 tires wouldn't fit according to his system.
Any ideas on this?

I don't care about my odometer being off.
I can't imagine why this wouldn't work.

i think he said it because you're tires would be rubbing the inside of the wheel well

225/35r19's are about 3/8" taller than 224/40r18, which in turn are about an inch taller than stock

I have about 2.5 - 3 inches between my 17" rims and my wheel wells.
The tires are equal in width, so that shouldn't be a problem. the rim offset is the same since it's the same rim only bigger.
And I have more than enough spave between my wheels and wells (see pic)

There must be celi's with 19's out there, right?

hmm,

then how about 225/30/19's ?

And if you can put on 225/40/18 and lower the car 1.5 inch,
then I'd say the 225/35/19's should fit when it's not lowered.

I may seem a little stubborn, but I don't wanna spend money on 18's and be thinking wether I should have bought 19's

confused that makes no sense, appearence and drivetrain dont ever mix,see if you said, why put 2 exhausts on a 4 banger, then that would make sense but seriously this is like saying why put a system into a 4 cylinder car?

What does the amount of cylinders have to do with the size of my rims?

So is there any reason the 19" won't fit, assuming I have the right size tire put on i.e. 225/30/19?

Since I won't have any comfort left and I will probably damage the rims on the first sidewalk I see?

2 inch drop 19x8 38mm off set and 215/35 19
never rubs full uturn and hard left over a speed pum and it never rubs. By the way they dont make a 225/30 19 and if you want to put a 225/35 19 on it it will look like a 4x4

diameter 225/40/18: 637.2mm
diameter 225/35/19: 640.1mm

If the width and offset of both wheels are the same I can't imagine that those 3mm would make any difference.

My point exactly...
Any reason the rims wouldn't fit (like hitting something?).
My guess is no, since instead of tire there's rim...

Thanks, but why would the 1 cm extra width (215 -> 225) make it look like a 4x4 ?

the sidewall would be a little over 3mm taller also remember the 30 in 225-30 r19 is an aspect ratio, and different tire manufacturers measure their tires differently, some measure the true sidewall only, some measure all the way to the highest part of the tread. and with 7/32" of tread that is a huge difference. but all things being equal a 225-30 equates to a total sidewall of 129mm while a 225-35 comes to 157mm
