I finally made my dream come true, I had a 2000 black GTS automatic(sportshift) and I traded it and waited 3 months for the dealer to locate a new silver 2003 gts , 6 speed, hid, action package (I'm screwed for 5 years eek ) and I kept my 17' enkei's and my TRD exhaust. I'm so happy, hid's looks so sweet. It took me a little effort to get use to the clutch and I have seen a lot of people already trying to race me. My car has only 200 miles on it and I need advise from the celica gods in:
1) How long should I brake in my engine / clutch?
2) I was told that I shouldn't pass 3k rpms on each gear for the first 1500 miles.
3) any advise on how to brake it in properly?

I will post pics soon...
Thanks

cheers

ok. here's the info grin
1. break it in for ~5,000 miles just to be safe (remember, the better you treat your car in the beginning, the longer it will run and less problems u'll have later)

2. stay under 3,000rpm for the first 1k miles.
stay under 4,000 rpm from 1k to 5k miles

3. see above

**also, don't drive at the same speed for very long. this sounds weird, but you don't want to drive (for example) at 35 miles per hour for like, 10 minutes. just speed up to 40mph and then slow down to 30mph. waiver your speeds, if that makes sense. GOOD LUCK WITH THE NEW CELI!!! have fun, tell us your mods as you add them (TRD exhaust rox!)

Just follow the break in procedures listed in the owners manual. Toyota knows the best way to break in their engines, they designed them after all. wink

I have the same car! Congrat's - I suggest following Toyota's recommendation - that way if something goes wrong they can't say you do what they told you to do. I was told to change the oil at 1K and I am running Mobil 1. Car runs great - never any problems (I only have 5K on so far).
