is it really necessary to get the fender flares molded and get the whole car repainted to install flares without getting that bolted on look? it seems they could just be bolted on, then the flares' bolted areas can be filled with resin and painted over...then the boundary between the flares and car can be painted or very closely attached to the car somehow.

I don't know NuMilo...I think the brs fender flares look pretty pimp with the bolted on effect on silver celicas(and you luckily have a silver celica)...plus, I think if you mold it all on, you can't really take your bumpers off very easily. I like the idea of accessability and while the molded fender flares can look pretty clean, I think the bolt on effect can look just as clean if properly paired to a complementary body kit. Just my opinion.

the paint is thumbsdown but maybe it was just the angle of the pic. i think that the flares look fine just bolted on. i think that it makes them more noticeable, especially with the right kit, but thats just me. rice

Chances are its the angle. First time i saw my car with its new kit in the shop i thought the color was off. but when you change angle it was actually just reflection. mine is silver as well so yea..

and definitely mold the flares or leave the bolt-on look. anything in between would look tacky..my 2c. grin

As for the paint color on the above photo... its the lighting... check out all the other photos from that same event and you will see that the lighting messed with them as well...

REMOVING NON-MOLDED PARTS...
As with anything you are removing, simply unbolt the area of the flairs that are attached to the front bumper when you want to remove your front

OR

PREPPING FOR MOLDING THEM TO YOUR CAR'S BODY...
once they are molded/installed by a professional... they will just follow the natural lines of your car's current body pieces and cut through the fender flairs to create the same line... Then remove the flairs, smooth out your cut, paint and re-install thumbsup

for all 4 you could be paying around 500 for a GOOD paint and install and good molding, then you gotta pay 160 for the flares themselves, about $50 each for spacers...so making your car widebody is gonna cost around a thousand dollars..

molding is about $700 to $1500 (includes cutting the stock fender)
repaint for color match and overspray of stock color is less than $1000
fenderflairs are $140
set of 4 spacers is about $200 - $250 (or you can spend about $4,000 on a good set of wheels and tires)

out the door, your final cost will be roughtly $2,000 using spacers... or $4,000+ if you are replacing the wheels as well

could you not mold them, and not bolt them...just fill in the bolt holes and install them with screws in the wheel wells and 3m tape against the body?

Well, I have a Blitz front end that is road rashed to hell ($700 for purchase, paint, and install). I am getting a Veilside front and rear with Invader sides. I'm getting another car in June to make as my daily driver. When I do, the Celica will get the kit put on and painted and will become my weekend driver only.

Think about it. Why dump all that money on a nice kit or a nice set of fender flares just to have the kit chipped and dinged and scrapped up within the first year? You can do this if you want and keep driving it daily, but road pebbles and other chunks of crap are gonna fly up from the road and damage it. Like Isaac said, about $2000 just to have it banged up in a year or two.

I'm learning from my first mistake. I hope you learn from it too.

Not to mention if you get sideswipped, shopping carts, and kids & irresponsible/inconsiderate people throwing their car doors open; all of which are a hazard to your car to begin with. These things can do serious damage regardless of whether or not you have $2000 fender flares. But what would piss you off more? A dinged factory fender, or a dinged fender with $1000 dumped into it? Just something to think about.

Oh trust me, I do care A LOT about my Celica. But I have to drive over SO FRICKIN' many speed bumps in my area. Plus, the people over here on the east side really can't drive. Atlanta is known for it's insane traffic and really harsh, retarded, uneducated drivers. 'Nuff said. I hope all your cars survive better than mine.
