does anybody has the same problem?

today, i shifted to 1st gear waiting for the red light to turn green.

Then the light turned green, so i let off my clutch and gave it gas...but the car wouldnt go for some reasons...

tires were spinning, but the car just couldnt go as usual as it did. it took off so slow like a turtle.

i am pretty sure that i let off my clutch...and the emergency brake was off too

i think the problem might be my tranny...what do you guys think?

it happend twice already

If your tires were moving, and it wasn't like a jerky-peel-out, then it's prolly just that you were in 3rd gear. As the clutch catches (on a worn-out clutch), you would've felt a jerky response that sorta throws your head back into the seat. It sounds like you just had a slow start from the traffic light (you were in 3rd gear). Just my 2 cents

it was just like the wouldnt go forward...it went and

slowed down...and it went and slowed down...BUT as soon as

i shifted to the 2nd gear...it became normal again

i am so sure that i put it in 1st gear

it's hard to diagnose a car over the internet. confused

I'm not convinced that it's a worn out clutch because you say that it's happened twice so far. If the clutch were worn out, I would think that you would experience the slipping every time you take off.

Are there any other symptoms? Any weird noises? Any change in the way that the clutch pedal feels?

Oh yeah, one other question - What were the engine RPM's doing when this happened. Were they steady while the car was surging forward, or was there engine RPM movement as well?

the clutch was working as usual...nothing felt different...

when it was happenning...i could hear the tires rub the gravel sound and the engine sound

i didnt pay attention to my RPM...cuz i was in a intersection where left turn is not protected...and it happened when i was doing the left turn...it was dangerous

the engine sounded just like the sound that indicates you to shift gears

might sound stupid but was there a smell coming from the car? With my old prelude the clutch burned out , but before the clutched died it progressively had a strong burnt smell. Very distinctive , sometimes your can smell it coming from a transport on the highway. The smell comes out the exhaust.

Ok, try this.
Don't do it often, but you can check your clutch pretty easy.

Put the car on the emergency brake.
Step on the clutch, shift into first.
Now rev up to about 2000 rpms.
Now pop the clutch slowly, the revs should go down and the engine should turn off.

If your rev's don't drop and you have your foot of the clutch but the engine is still running you need a new clutch.
