ok, i will be getting the blitz body kit, or a Invader, and i was wondering, if me and my dad could put it on ourselves. it would prolly help us bond a little. anyways, is it easy to put on or should it be taken to be put on professionally. or are there any websites about putting them on? anyhelp would be grrreat!

Fiberglass parts are generally lighter and easier to modify if any custom work is planned. Fiberglass is also easier to repair and less difficult to paint. Fiberglass, however, is more prone to chipping from road debris, etc. and it said it has a better fitment, but i heard urethane doesnt break as much and are body kits as safe as having the original kit that came with the car?

Ok this is what I am trying to show you... if you buy the blitz or invader odds are you will be getting a fiberglass bodykit. There's almost always shaving, bonding, etc. to be done b4 it fits perfectly. You could prolly DIY if you had all the necessary tools and you really put a lot of effort into it. I believe that anything can be done with patience

what are you confused about? Urethane is less prone to chipping or breaking from normal wear and tear - that is true.

about the urethane, it said it might not fit as well. and about the bonding/shaving is there a lot of work to do with that? do you know where to get documentation on how to do it?

I don't know which part you are referring to.. this is a direct quote: " Urethane body kits have perfect or near-perfect fitment and, generally speaking, are more durable than fiberglass parts." Urethane fits better than fiberglass, generally speaking.

FYI - something that you and your dad may sit around, cussing/swearing for hours over - may just be a simple alteration that professional bodyshops commonly see so if you get frustrated and stuck during the installation, it might be best to take a step back and think if it really was a good idea to install the kit yourself, or have a shop do it for you. BTW - A shop will do a pre-fit, then modify the pieces to a perfect fit... then they will remove, paint and reinstall... modifying again if necessary

On second thought if yer tryin to bond with pops I'd suggest goin fishin. I just don't see throwin tools around ,breakin stuff and cussin a good bondin experience.

dude i got the blitz (urethane front), extremor sides, and veilside rear...i had the same i idea as you...me and my dad installed it took about 3 days taking our time cause we didnt want to fuck anything up...
The front blitz was as easy as taking the stock bumber off and sliding that one in to place marking the holes, drilling them and putting the screws back in.
the back was just about as easy as the front...no modification needed...and it is a replica
lastly were the side skirts...i hate side skirts...biggest bitch in the world...let me tell you me and my dad shared many cuss words...we had to cut and sand them bitches alot...but we got em to work
i would say go for it, installing it yourself

Me and my pops intalled our body kit. 3 days also. One day I put the back on. next week I put the front on and...well you get the idea. We did lil shaving and bondoing to get it perfect and there are fitment issues that you figure out as you go. stuff like opening and closing the hood 100 times to make sure the fit is perfect before you mount it. also get some tools. A heat gun, some drills and drill bits a sander for shaving and there a tool that looks like a cheese grater for shaving down edges quick.
