Please forgive me if this has been posted before; although I didn't find anything similar.

I just got a Bel 985, and thought I could hook it to sunroof/dome light area. I found the 12V and ground, but that would mean the detector is on all the time (including when the ignition is off). I'm concerned this will drain the battery.

According to my voltmeter, there isn't a source of switched 12V up there. It seems both the sunroof and dome switch actually switch in the ground, rather than the 12V.

Anyone have any info?

Thanks!!

I have mine mine hooked into the dome and have left it on by accident sometimes, the most was 48 hours and I have no issues. i dont think it drains as much as people think (or as much as I thought it would)

But as was mentioned there should be a switched line on the radio harness.

good luck

I'm aware of the switched 12V on the radio harness (it's red; the yellow is 12V unswitched).

That would be great, but what's the best way to get the wiring down to the behind the radio from the top of the windshield?

Thanks!!

take off you right pillar, run the red smile wire behind your dash (open dash drawer), fiddle the wire through, run it up and put it behind the ceiling cloth.

Should be doable
